Amelotte discusses Affordable Care Act

Peter Amelotte of Aloha Insurance will give a presentation on the Affordable Care Act during a breakfast meeting hosted by Kona Executives Association at 7:30 a.m. Tuesday at King Kamehameha’s Kona Beach Hotel. Rotary offering IT training

The Rotary Club of Kona Sunrise will offer Rotary Club Express IT Training to Rotarians and prospective Rotarians at 6:45 a.m. Wednesday at the West Hawaii Civic Center. The club will not meet at Hale Halawai for this week only. Bring laptops or iPads to use for instruction. The West Hawaii Civic Center is located at 74-5044 Ane Keohokalole Highway in Kailua-Kona.

The Rotary Club of Kona Sunrise holds regular breakfast meetings at 6:45 a.m. every Wednesday at Hale Halawai in Kailua-Kona. Breakfast is $10. Call Laura Guluzzy for more information at 326-2100.

Freemasons to meet Wednesday

Kona Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons meets Wednesday at the Kona Masonic Center, 73-5577 Kauhola St., No. 7, Kailua-Kona. The activities will begin with a dinner in honor of Valentine’s Day for members and their spouses at 6 p.m. The meeting will be held at 7 p.m. Dessert will be available after the meeting.

Knights planning Valentine’s event

The Knights of Columbus of St. Michael the Archangel Council 13227 is sponsoring a Valentine’s Dinner Dance at 5:30 p.m. Feb. 8 at the Royal Kona Resort’s Alii Surf Terrace. Tickets are $50 per person and include a Hawaiian buffet dinner and dancing to the music of Roy Galigo.

This is the third annual Valentine’s Dinner Dance fundraiser, which benefits the Knights of Columbus Charities. It is open to the public. Tickets can be obtained by calling Rod Imming at 326-1269 or Lito Ilagan at 322-4969. Tickets may also be purchased at the door.

Earth &Ocean Festival scheduled for April 12

The Earth &Ocean Festival is designed to showcase and emphasize the unique treasures of Hawaii Island through active participation in educational booths and activities on coral reef, ocean stewardship and conservation practices in Hawaii. The free event will be from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. April 12 at the Makaeo Events Pavilion at Old Kona Airport Park.

Traditional Hawaiian cultural practices will be shared, environmental programs will be presented in the Surf &Turf Theater and educational tours will be offered throughout the day. Tours include the Kona Cloud Forest Sanctuary, Natural Energy Laboratory Hawaii, Historical Footsteps Along the Kona Coast and Makaeo Walking/Jogging Path. Tours require online registration. Presentations include “Climate Reality,” “The Manta Ray,” “Aloha in the Huna Way,” “The DLNR Watershed Initiative” and “Tsunami Talk.”

VA claims information available at seminar

The Christopher Camero Veterans of Foreign Wars Post is hosting a repeat of the seminar on how to win a Veterans Administration claim. The seminar begins at 5:15 p.m. Tuesday at the post, located at 74-5562 Makala Blvd. in Kailua-Kona. All are welcome to attend.

The speaker is Douglas Drake, a disabled veteran, retired judge and accredited member of the bar for the U.S. Court of Appeals for Veterans Claims.
