Kawaihae Road is currently closed in both directions because of a motor vehicle accident, the Hawaii County Police Department reported Friday morning.
The road was closed shortly after 8 a.m. because of an accident near mile marker 63 in the area of Anekona Estates, according to police.
It is unknown when the road will be reopened at this time.
Motorists are advised to use alternate routes.
