Free art sessions for seniors meet Mondays
Art classes for seniors 55 and older are now offered from 9 a.m. to noon every Monday in the Hawaii County Department of Parks and Recreation room at the West Hawaii Civic Center in Kailua-Kona. Participants should bring their own art supplies for any media; sack lunches are optional. There is no fee.

Kona Brewers Fest tickets released
Tickets for the Kona Brewers Festival are being sold online at konabrewersfestival.com/tickets or in person at Kona Brewing Co. The March 8 event will host some of the country’s best brewers.
Tickets are available in advance only. The nonrefundable tickets are $75 and include a commemorative glass mug, 10 4-ounce brew tasting coupons, unlimited sampling of gourmet island cuisine and an afternoon of entertainment. The purchase limit is 10 tickets per person. No one younger than 21 will be admitted.
The annual fundraising event, held rain or shine on the beach and luau grounds at King Kamehameha’s Kona Beach Hotel, began almost two decades ago as an anniversary celebration for Kona Brewing Co. The festival grew each year as did the number of charities supported by the event, and today more than 2,000 people attend.
Blind and Low Vision Support Group meets Friday morning
There is a temporary schedule change for the Blind and Low Vision Support Group. The group will meet on the first Friday of the month in February, March and April. The February meeting will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Hale Halawai on Alii Drive. The group will discuss the topic, “Perceptions of Blindness.”

Hui Laulima meets Friday morning
West Hawaii Hui Laulima will meet from 10:30 a.m. to noon Friday in the West Hawaii Community Health Center community meeting room. The guest speaker is Michelle Lee, an advocate for the Hawaii Disability Rights Center, a private nonprofit that receives federal funds to protect and advocate for the rights of people with disabilities.

Weekend cancer retreat planned
Kokolulu Farm and Cancer Retreats in Hawi will host a cancer retreat with Master Ning Jian Xiong from China from 10 a.m. Feb. 22 to 4 p.m. Feb. 23.
The retreat helps participants focus the mind for optimal healing. Cost is $150, which must be paid in advance. The retreat includes four meals and a shared room for Saturday night. Space is limited.
Xiong will also speak from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Friday at Tutu’s House in Waimea, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Sunday at Kokolulu’s Retreat Center in Hawi, and from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Feb. 11 at Nandi Pencak’s house in Kona.
