Big Island police are investigating a two-car cash that left a man dead today in South Kohala.

The crash occurred shortly before noon on Queen Kaahumanu Highway, near mile marker 71.5, police said.

The highway closed between Puako Beach and Mauna Lani Drive because of the accident. However, police now have a contraflow lane in place, allowing traffic to pass. Motorists traveling through this area are advised to use caution and ongoing patience is appreciated, police said.
