LONG BEACH, Calif. — Dan Jennings finished with 15 points and 11 rebounds and Travis Hammonds hit a 3-pointer with 8 seconds to play as Long Beach State beat Hawaii 63-61 Thursday night.

Tyler Lamb added 18 points for LBSU (13-14, 9-4 Big West).

Davis Rozitis hit a jumper with 3:32 remaining to give Hawaii a five point lead before Lamb hit a 3 just 25 seconds later to make it 60-58.

Christian Standhardinger made 1 of 2 free throws to push the Hawaii (19-9, 8-6) lead to three with 1:48 left.

On the next 49ers possession, LBSU missed a pair of jumpers but pulled down a couple of offensive rebounds before a jumpshot by Jennings made it a one-point game with 1:08 remaining.

Long Beach State got another stop and Hammonds corralled his own miss before knocking down the game winner.

Standhardinger scored 17 points and now has 1,001 points in his career at Hawaii.

UC Irvine 71, UC Santa Barbara 60

IRVINE, Calif. — Chris McNealy scored 17 points and UC Irvine defeated UC Santa Barbara 71-60 Thursday night in a matchup of the Big West’s first-place teams.

Will Davis II added 14 points, Luke Nelson 13 and Mamadou Ndiaye 11 for the Anteaters (19-10, 10-3).

UCI made 24 of 30 free throws and outrebounded a UCSB team 36-26 that had the nation’s leading rebounder coming in, Alan Williams (12.0). Williams had 15 points but only six boards despite the 7-foot-6 Ndiaye playing only 19 minutes because of foul trouble.

UCI has a one-game lead over UCSB and Long Beach State with three remaining.

A 7-2 run gave UCI a 59-52 lead with 4:52 left. The Gauchos (18-8, 9-4) got within 61-60 at 2:26 but didn’t score again while UCI’s Alex Young scored five of his seven points the rest of the way.

Kyle Boswell added 14 points and Michael Bryson 11 for UCSB.

Cal St-Fullerton 82, CS Northridge 81

FULLERTON, Calif. — Michael Williams scored 23 points and Alex Harris scored 10 of his 16 points in the second half as Cal State Fullerton topped Cal State Northridge 82-81 on Thursday night.

Fullerton (10-17, 5-8 Big West Conference) jumped out to a 14-4 lead just more than 5 minutes into the game and never trailed in the contest.

Northridge (14-16, 6-8), however, wouldn’t go away without a fight.

Harris made a jumper with 14 minutes to play, extending the Titans’ lead to 11, but a 10-1 run by the Matadors closed the gap to 61-59 with 11:11 left.

Harris hit a 3 with 2:46 remaining, pushing the Fullerton lead back into double digits before a 9-2 spurt by Northridge made it 80-77 with 30 seconds to go, but the Titans held on despite making just 2 of 6 free throws from there.

Stephen Maxwell paced Northridge with 25 points and 12 rebounds.

No. 7 Louisville 88, Temple 66

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Russ Smith had 24 points, moving into ninth place on Louisville’s career scoring list, and the Cardinals throttled Temple on Thursday night.

Montrezl Harrell added 21 points and freshman Terry Rozier scored a career-high 19 as Louisville capped a perfect February with its seventh straight victory. The trio combined to shoot 25 of 34 from the field and nearly outscored Temple all by themselves.

Five days after drawing within a half-game of first-place Cincinnati with a road win over the Bearcats, the Cardinals (24-4, 13-2 American Athletic Conference) followed up by completing a season sweep of the outmanned Owls (7-20, 2-13).

Duquesne 71, No. 10 Saint Louis 64

ST. LOUIS — Micah Mason had 22 points, Jerry Jones added 19 and Duquesne surprised Saint Louis in snapping the Billikens’ school-record, 19-game winning streak.

Saint Louis (25-3, 12-1 Atlantic 10) had not lost since dropping a 70-65 decision on Dec. 1 to unbeaten Wichita State, now ranked No. 2 in the country.

Mason, who entered leading the nation in 3-point shooting percentage (.554), hit four of five from behind the arc for Duquesne (12-15, 4-10), which beat a top-10 opponent on the road for the fifth time (5-28). The Dukes, who were 14-point underdogs, improved to 25-55 against teams ranked in the top 10.

Arkansas 71, No. 17 Kentucky 67, OT

LEXINGTON, Ky. — Coty Clarke scored seven points in overtime and Arkansas upset Kentucky to complete a season sweep.

Six weeks after Michael Qualls beat the Wildcats with a last-second dunk in OT, Clarke lifted the Razorbacks this time with a 3-pointer and four free throws in the extra period, including two with 36.7 seconds left for a 69-64 lead.

Free throws were the difference in the game, with Arkansas making all six attempts in overtime and going 16 for 16 overall. Kentucky was 12 of 22 from the line.

James Young’s 3-pointer brought Kentucky (21-7, 11-4 Southeastern Conference) within two, but Arkansas’ Kikko Haydar made two more from the line with 17 seconds left for the final margin.

The surging Razorbacks (19-9, 8-7) have won four straight and six of seven.

Indiana 93, No. 20 Iowa 86

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. — Will Sheehey scored 19 of his career-high 30 points in the first half and Stanford Robinson added a career-best 17 to lead Indiana over Iowa in a game that was postponed last week.

The Hoosiers (16-12, 6-9 Big Ten) went on a 9-0 run in the second half, capped by a 3-pointer from Evan Gordon that gave them a 62-60 lead with 13:13 remaining.

Roy Devyn Marble had 20 points and Aaron White added 19 points and 10 rebounds for the Hawkeyes (19-9, 8-7), who have lost three straight.

The Hoosiers scored six straight points to take a 77-69 lead when Robinson converted a three-point play. Sheehey dunked to give Indiana an 82-73 advantage with 1:35 remaining.

Houston 77, No. 21 Memphis 68

HOUSTON — Danuel House had 19 points and Houston closed with a surge to beat Memphis.

TaShawn Thomas added 16 points and seven rebounds for the Cougars, who finished on a 14-5 run to win their second consecutive game. Jherrod Stiggers chipped in with 14 points and L.J. Rose had seven points, seven rebounds and 10 assists for Houston (14-14, 6-9 American Athletic Conference).

Michael Dixon Jr. scored 19 points and Shaq Goodwin had 16 points and 10 rebounds for Memphis (21-7, 10-5).

Penn State 65, No. 22 Ohio State 63

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. — D.J. Newbill scored 23 points, Tim Frazier added 16 and Penn State held off a late rally by Ohio State on Senior Night.

The Buckeyes (22-7, 9-7 Big Ten) had a chance to win at the end. Coming out of a timeout with 6.8 seconds left, Lenzelle Smith Jr.’s 3-pointer rimmed out. The Nittany Lions (14-14, 5-10) grabbed the rebound and time expired.

Ohio State was led by LaQuinton Ross, who scored 19 points. Aaron Craft, plagued by foul trouble, added 10.

Penn State swept the season series. The Nittany Lions upset then-No. 23 Ohio State 71-70 in overtime on Jan. 29 in Columbus.
