A wind advisory is in effect for the Mauna Loa and Mauna Kea summits until noon Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service in Honolulu.

The service forecast west winds around 40 mph to 50 mph with localized gusts reaching 65 mph for areas above 8,000 feet in elevation.

A wind advisory means that strong winds are expected. Motorists are advised to use caution while driving in the affected area. Winds this strong can make driving difficult, especially for high-profile vehicles.
