Norma Pascua Cuevas, 66, of Honokaa died Feb. 23, 2014, at Hilo Medical Center. Born Feb. 14, 1948, in Vintar, Ilocos Norte, Philippines, she was a retired certified nurse aide for Hale Hoola Hamakua in Honokaa, housekeeper for Mauna Kea Beach Hotel and member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Honokaa.

Friends may call at 5 p.m. March 6 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Honokaa for a 7 p.m. Mass. Interment will be held at a later date in the Philippines. Family requests casual attire be worn.

She is survived by daughter, Nori (Apolonio) Acidera of Honokaa; sons, Aldrin (Suerie) Suguitan, Roderick (Mitsue) Suguitan and Jeffrey Cuevas, all of Philippines, Norman (Dona) Suguitan of Hawaii; sisters, Estelita Aceret and Emelita Loo, both of Philippines, Gemma Gamiop of California; brothers, Edmund Pascua of California, Elmar Pascua of Philippines; seven grandchildren; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Teri-Ann Yoshiwa

Teri-Ann S. Yoshiwa, 52, of Hilo died Feb. 24, 2014, at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Honolulu, she worked as an employer at Creative Arts.

She is survived by parents, Richard and Jane Takamatsu of Hilo; son, Reid (Crystal Keohuloa) Takamatsu of Hilo; daughters, Caitlyn Yoshiwa and Brieann Yoshiwa, both of Hilo; sister, Cheryl Takamatsu of Hilo; three grandchildren; numerous nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

Wayne Fujioka

Wayne Yoshiaki Fujioka, 64, of Pahala died Feb. 20, 2014, at Queen’s Medical Center in Honolulu. Born Nov. 20, 1949, in Pahala, he was a cultivation superintendent for Royal Hawaiian Orchards and member of Pahala Hongwanji Kyodan and Pahala Hongwanji Judo Club.

Friends may call at 3:30 p.m. March 8 at Dodo Mortuary chapel in Hilo for a 5 p.m. service. Cremation follows. Family requests casual attire be worn and no flowers.

He is survived by wife, Gaylien Fujioka of Pahala; daughter, Kelly Ann (Jeremy) Kahaialii of Honolulu; son, Garrett (Malia Letoto) Fujioka of Hilo; mother, Jean Fujioka of Hilo; sisters, Joyce (Andrew) Iwashita and Katy (Vernon) Ferreira, both of Hilo, Lani Shigematsu of Honokaa; brothers, Bert (Lee Seki) Fujioka of Wailuku, Maui, Neal (Lorna) Fujioka of Mountain View; four grandchildren; numerous aunts, nephews, nieces and cousins.

Wilimina Malakaua

Wilimina Nalehua Malakaua, 84, of Hilo died Feb. 11, 2014, at Life Care Center of Hilo. Born Feb. 4, 1930, in Kona, she was a homemaker and member of the Waiakea Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses.

Friends may call at 9:30 a.m. March 8 at Dodo Mortuary chapel in Hilo for an 11 a.m. service.

She is survived by daughter, Ruth Miyasato of Hilo; four grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; several cousins, nieces and nephews.

Milton Phillips

Milton “Dumpa” Maluhia Phillips, 71, of Waimea died Feb. 20, 2014, at North Hawaii Community Hospital. Born Jan. 16, 1943, in Waikii, he was a retired truck driver and member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Waimea Second Ward.

Friends may call at 9 a.m. March 8 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Waimea for an 11 a.m. service. Cremation follows at Dodo Mortuary. Family requests casual attire be worn. Flowers are welcome.

He is survived by wife, Pamela Phillips; hanai daughters, Denise (Roy) Freitas, Tierra Tunoa; hanai sons, GG Bento, Larry Hookahi Jr.; brother, Anthony (Noelani) Phillips; sisters, Dorothy Nishie, Grace Inamine, Barbara Robertson; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two aunts; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Jeffrey “Jeff” K. Reyes, 53, of Pepeekeo died Feb. 2, 2014, at Hilo Medical Center. Born April 1, 1960, in Hilo, he was a certified public accountant and member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Papaikou.

Friends may call at 9 a.m. March 8 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Papaikou for a 10 a.m. service. An urn burial will be held at Homelani Memorial Park, Lehua Section. Family requests casual attire be worn.

He is survived by mother, Flora Reyes of Pepeekeo; brothers, Anthony (YunHo) Reyes of Colorado, James (Fe) Reyes of California; sisters, Joy Kidani of Pepeekeo, Lydia (Bubba) Rutledge of Kapaau; several nephews; one niece.

Maryann “Meleana” Kawaiulailiahiokalani Switzer, 92, of Keaau died Feb. 21, 2014, at home. Born April 15, 1921, in Honolulu, she was a homemaker and member of the Paniolo O Pupukea Club on Oahu and Ke Ola Pono No Na Kupuna Club in Hilo.

Edmund “Denny” Francis Austen, 85, of Hilo died Jan. 8, 2014, at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Honolulu, he was a retired oil field sales representative; member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hilo, Hilo Lodge No. 759 of the Benevolent &Protective Order of Elks, AARP, Korean War Veterans Chapter 231, Hawaii Island Veterans Memorial Association; former commander of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3875 and U.S. Air Corps veteran.

Friends may call at 9 a.m. March 10 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hilo for a 10 a.m. service. Family requests casual attire be worn.

Ebencio “Eben” Salazar, 83, of Ahualoa died Feb. 17, 2014, at his residence. Born May 3, 1930, in Kapulena, he was a retired mill supervisor from Hamakua Sugar Co., past president of Hamakua Young Farmers and co-owner of Sala Tropicals in Ahualoa.

Mitsue Miyamoto, 92, of Hilo died Jan. 31, 2014, at Life Care Center of Hilo. Born in Wainaku, she was a retired dental assistant and member of Honpa Hongwanji Hilo Betsuin.

She is survived by husband, Hajime Miyamoto of Hilo; daughter, Susan (Alvin) Yoshitomi of Aiea, Oahu; numerous nieces and nephews.

Myra Okubo

Myra Kazuko Okubo, 82, of Hilo died Feb. 26, 2014, at Hale Anuenue Restorative Care Center. Born in Nagoya, Japan, she was a retired cafeteria worker for the state Department of Education and member of Honpa Hongwanji Hilo Betsuin.

Private services were held. Family requests no flowers or monetary gifts.

She is survived by daughter, Cyd (Brian) Shiroma of Hilo; two grandsons; numerous nieces and nephews.
