Jean Vail

Jean Fen Vail, 91, of Holualoa died Feb. 28, 2014. Born Feb. 15, 1923, in Chengdu, China, she worked as a commercial seamstress.

Friends may call at 5 p.m. March 6 at the Palm Terrace Chapel at A Hui Hou Funeral Home in Kailua-Kona for a service.

She is survived by sons, C.Y. Zhang of China, Davis Ja (Deborah Sherwood) and Holland Ja (Hilarie Connolly), both of San Francisco, Theodore Lew (Linda) of Tracy, Calif.; daughters, Anne Ja Forbes (Roger) of South Lake Tahoe, Calif., Jeanne Phillips of Kailua-Kona; 10 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren.

Arrangements by A Hui Hou Crematory &Funeral Home of West Hawaii.

Teruo Matsumoto

Teruo Matsumoto, 85, of Holualoa died Feb. 26, 2014, at his residence. Born July 12, 1928, in Keopu Mauka, he was a contractor and owner of Teruo Matsumoto Inc., an avocado and macadamia nut farmer, had a nursery of exotic flowers and was a member of Keopu Citizens Club, Daifukuji Soto Mission and Keopu Kumiai.

Services will be held at a later date.

He is survived by wife, Darlene Matsumoto of Honokohau; son, Alan (Haenam) Matsumoto of Salinas, Calif.; brothers, Sani (Kazuko) Matsumoto and Kumio (Patsy) Matsumoto, both of Keopu, Takeshi (Thelma) Matsumoto of Keauhou Mauka; sisters, Nancy Kurihara of Kailua-Kona, Lily (Richard) Saito of Kaneohe, Oahu; three grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
