The U.S. Geolgoical Survey reported a 3.5 magnitude earthquake Thursday afternoon southwest of Kawaihae.
According to the Hawaiian Volcano Observatory report, the 1:30 p.m. quake was located about 5 miles southwest of Kawaihae and about 7 miles below the surface.
