Petra “Etrang” Camero Cabatu, 100, of Pepeekeo died March 7, 2014, at Hospice of Hilo Pohai Malama Facility. Born Oct. 17, 1913, in Narvacan, Ilocos Sur, Philippines, she was a homemaker and member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Papaikou.

Friends may call at 5 p.m. March 21 at Dodo Mortuary chapel for a 6 p.m. service. Friends may also call at 9 a.m. March 22 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Papaikou for a 10 a.m. Mass. Burial is at Mauna Kea Memorial Park on Kaieie Homestead Road in Papaikou. Family requests aloha attire be worn.

She is survived by daughters, Virginia (Ramon) Pajo and Rae Cabatu, both of Pepeekeo, Natalia (Andy) Abad of Oahu, Cecelia Cardines of Pahoa; sons, Bernardino (Julia) Cabatu of Oahu, Jaime (Sharon) Cabatu of Pepeekeo, Elson (Liana Boyce) Cabatu of Hawaiian Paradise Park; 29 grandchildren; 45 great-grandchildren; 19 great-great-grandchildren; numerous grandnieces and grandnephews.

James Inaba

James “Jimmy” Yoshiharu Inaba, 93, of Kailua-Kona died Feb. 28, 2014, at a private care home. Born March 1, 1920, in Honolulu, he was formerly employed at the original Kona Inn and member of Kailua Shita Kumiai and multiple golf clubs.

Friends may call at 9 a.m. March 22 at Mokuaikaua Church for a 10 a.m. service. Luncheon follows. Memorial donations may be sent to Hospice of Kona, P.O. Box 4130, Kailua-Kona, HI 96745.

He is survived by wife, Ann Inaba of Kailua-Kona; daughter, Sharon (Anthony) Dual of Ocean View; one grandson; numerous nieces and nephews.

Russell Kuamoo

Russell David Kalani Kuamoo, 59, of Hilo died March 7, 2014, at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Hilo, he was a former welder and machinist.

Friends may call at noon March 22 at Puhi Bay in Keaukaha for a celebration of life. Family requests casual attire be worn.

He is survived by wife, Beni-Jo Kuamoo of Hilo; daughters, Mitzi (Alfred) Kuamoo and Ramzi (Donovan) Kuamoo, both of Hilo; sons, Roland (Annie) Aliiloa Kuamoo, Myles (Loke) Kuamoo and Huaka Kuamoo, all of Hilo; brother, Darrell Kuamoo of Hilo; sister, Mapu (Willoughby) Abraham of Hilo; nine grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

Fabian Toribio

Fabian Toribio, 76, of Hilo died Feb. 27, 2014, at The Queen’s Medical Center on Oahu. Born Jan. 23, 1938, in Onomea, he was a retired Air Force technical sergeant.

Friends may call at 10 a.m. March 22 at Dodo Mortuary chapel for an 11 a.m. service with military honors to follow. Burial will be at noon March 25 at Hawaii Veterans Cemetery No. 2. Family requests casual attire.

He is survived by wife, Nancy Toribio of Hilo; daughter, Nancy Tabandera of Hilo; son, Jon Jon Toribio of Japan; stepsons, Jack (Connie) Vanderhoff Jr. of Hilo, Jeffrey Vanderhoff of California, Mark (Dawn Lague) Vanderhoff of Michigan, Timothy (Elvira) Vanderhoff of Alaska; three grandchildren; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

Garry Yamada

Garry Loo Yamada, 54, of Keaau died Jan. 31, 2014, at The Queen’s Medical Center on Oahu. Born in Hilo, he was the director of field operations for Yamada Diversified, field commissioner/fundraising coordinator for the Keaukaha Pop Warner Football Association and an Air Force veteran.

Friends may call at 9 a.m. March 22 at New Hope Christian Fellowship Gathering Place in Hilo for an 11 a.m. service. Friends may also call at 11 a.m. March 23 at the Wailoa State Park large pavilion for an 11:30 a.m. service. Family requests casual attire be worn and no flowers, but lei are welcome.

He is survived by wife, Nola Yamada of Keaau; son, Brett (Stephanie Schultz) Yamada of Mountain View; daughters, Cara (Dean) Dudoit of Hilo, Chastity (Dustin DePonte) Yamada of Keaau; brothers, Robert (Trudy) Yamada II and Curtis Yamada, both of Hilo, Kelly (Renee) Yamada of Honomu, Weston Yamada of Pahoa; sister, Donna Miller of Hilo; four grandchildren; numerous uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Martha Paiva

Martha Hatsue Paiva, 88, of Hilo died March 4, 2014, at Hale Anuenue Restorative Care Center. Born in Olaa, she was a homemaker, a clerk at the former S.H. Kress Store and member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hilo.

Private services were held. Family requests no flowers or monetary gifts.

She is survived by sons, Wendell (Lana) Paiva and Paul (Shawn) Paiva, both of Hilo; daughter, Pamela (Jack) Terry of Eugene, Ore.; brother, George (Sue) Hashimoto of Kurtistown; sister, Alma Hashimoto of Keaau; four grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

Bessie Itsuyo Shimizu, 72, of Hilo died March 4, 2014, at Hilo Medical Center. Born Aug. 15, 1941, in Kealakekua, she was a homemaker.
