You will look very closely and wonder: How did he do that? Have the physical laws of the universe changed? If magic is the suspension of disbelief, then prepare for sheer amazement at the 28th annual Magic Spectacular Saturday at the Aloha Theatre in Kainaliu. Headlining the show is Bizzaro, The Optical Illusionist, an international performer who will open the audience’s eyes and prove that “normal” is just the setting on a dryer.

Using music as his frame, Bizzaro creates a unique picture with visual comedy and off-the-wall illusions that combine a neo-vaudeville style with silent movie antics. Bizzaro has performed across the U.S., Canada and Europe, including The Laugh Factory in Las Vegas and the Magic Castle in California. Television appearances on NBC, Fox and the Travel Channel include “America’s Got Talent” and “Extreme Conventions.”

Also taking the stage will be resident masters of magic, mirth and mystery: Barry “the Great Barusky” Gitelson, Arnie “Arneleo the Great” Rabin and Lindley Rabin, Adrian Villasenor and family, and the award-winning team of Bruce and Jennifer Meyers. Music is by Solar Wind.

Magic Spectacular has a serious side, too. All proceeds will benefit the Society for Kona’s Education and Art, a nonprofit organization that provides art camps for students during school break, arts education in South Kona schools and classes and cultural events for the community at its site in Honaunau.

Shows are at 2:30 and 7 p.m. Saturday. Tickets are $12 for adults and $10 for children and seniors. Tickets may be purchased online at apachawaii.org, or by calling SKEA at 328-9392. Tickets are also available at Kona Bay Books in Kona’s Old Industrial Area, Kona Stories bookstore in Keauhou Shopping Center, Kiernan Music in Kainaliu and Patel’s Service Station in Honaunau.
