Feb. 17: Taking first north/south were E. Hayes and Pat Ingoglia; second, Kathy Golitzen and Peter Mitchellopolis. East/west winners were Marilynn Bass and Chuck Clark; second, Shirley Decker and Sharon Bolton.
Feb. 20: Barbara and Patrick Kallaus came in first north/south; Audrey Mitchell and Susan Lee came in second. Carol Richards and Shirley Decker were first east/west; Dorothy Case and Chuck Clark were second.
Feb. 24: North/south first place winners were Carol Richards and Susan Lee; second, Alice Goo and Eileen Ramsey. East/west first place winners were John Hindle and Brian Macri; second, Kathy Golitzen and Peter Mitchelloopolis.
Feb. 27: Placing first north/south were Richard Gittelman and Dean Jenkins; second, Dorothy Case and Chuck Clark. East/west first place were Joan and Edward Stark. Tied for second were, Shirley Decker and Carol Richards, JoAn Hill and Marilynn Bass.
Feb. 28: First was claimed by Perry Clark and Robert Dow; second, Steve and L. Tubbs. East/west first place winners were, Susan Brown and Mary Dee Overton; second, Marilynn Bass and Chuck Clark.

Red Cross releases pet first aid app
A new, 99-cent Red Cross Pet First Aid app helps smartphone users provide emergency care for their dog or cat until veterinary assistance is available.
“Pet owners learn how to recognize health problems, respond to emergencies, and when to contact their veterinarian,” said Coralie Chun Matayoshi, CEO, Hawaii Red Cross. “The Pet First Aid App provides step-by-step instructions, videos and images for more than 25 common first aid and emergency situations including how to treat wounds, control bleeding, and care for breathing and cardiac emergencies,” she said.
Additional topics include burns, car accidents, falls and what to do for cold and heat-related emergencies. Additional features include finding emergency pet care facilities and locating pet-friendly hotels.
History shows that people have not evacuated during disasters because they did not want to leave their pets behind. The Red Cross app contains resources to help owners include pets in their emergency action plans.
The Red Cross also encourages dog and cat owners to attend dog and cat first aid classes. More information is available at redcross.org/take-a-class.
New members welcome at yacht club
Keauhou-Kona Yacht Club is seeking new members.
The purpose of the club is to provide a gathering place for boating enthusiasts through social events, educational programs and activities. Because the club’s physical location was destroyed during the 2011 tsunami, members meet for dinner on Tuesdays and Fridays at Kona By the Sea in Kailua-Kona.

Applications sought for Kona Business and Professional Women grant
Kona Business and Professional Women are accepting applications for their annual Grant for Success, which is offered to women returning to the work field or trying to improve their status in the work field through continuing education.
The deadline for applications is April 15. All applications should be mailed to Chairwoman Gay Okada, PO Box 1505, Kailua-Kona, HI 96745.
