Fire officials are investigating the cause of a Sunday morning structure fire in Milolii.

Responding to the 9:29 a.m. report, firefighters found a single-story wood structure on Lehua Avenue engulfed in flames and partially collapsed, according to the Hawaii County Fire Department. The single-walled structure appeared to have been an abandoned dwelling.

The fire was contained to the structure though the nearest water source was in Hawaiian Ocean View Estates, approximately 16 miles away. The fire was declared out at noon.

The department deemed the structure a total loss.
