The advisory lasts until 4 p.m. Wednesday for windward waters of Hawaii Island. For the island’s leeward and southeast waters as well as the Alenuihaha Channel, the advisory remains in effect until 6 a.m. Thursday.

Inexperienced mariners, especially those operating smaller vessels, should avoid navigating in these conditions, according to the service.
