Prostate cancer group meets today

The Prostate Cancer Information and Support group meets from noon to 1 p.m. today at King Kamehameha’s Kona Beach Hotel’s pool bar. The group meets to share cancer-related issues and lend support to one another. Newly diagnosed, survivors and their caregivers are welcome to attend. Lunch will not be served but may be purchased at the pool bar.

AdvoCats meets Saturday morning

AdvoCats meets at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Kona Vistas community center on Pualani Street.

An April 23 clinic and ways to involve the community will be on the meeting’s agenda. Ink cartridges may be dropped off at the meeting for recycling.

AdvoCats is a trap, neuter, release organization committed to solving the homeless cat problem in a humane way. The organization has spayed or neutered 14,000 cats since 1999.

Book sale held Saturday in Kohala

The Friends of North Kohala Public Library will hold its annual spring book and bake sale from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at Kohala High School cafeteria.

All books will be sold for $1 or less or $7 per filled grocery bag. Shoppers should bring their own bags. All remaining books will be given away from noon to 2 p.m.

Volunteers are needed for setup at 4 p.m. Friday, and take down Saturday afternoon. Books, CDs and DVDs in good condition may be dropped off at North Kohala Public Library until Thursday. Baked goods can be delivered to the Kohala School cafeteria on the day of the sale.

Southern potluck planned Saturday

Donkey Mill Art Center will hold an evening of Southern hospitality from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Saturday.

Participants should bring a Southern dish to share in a potluck. Ono Gumbo zydeco band will provide entertainment. Tickets are $15 for members or $20 for nonmembers by advance reservation or $20 at the door. Children 12 and younger are free.
