The Hawaii Police Department reports Highway 190 has reopened following a traffic accident Thursday afternoon in South Kohala.

Lanes are open in both directions approximately two miles south of the Saddle Road junction, according to the Hawaii County Civil Defense.

The road was closed shortly before 4 p.m. Thursday in both directions after a tanker-type vehicle overturned and a possible chemical spill was reported, according to police and Civil Defense.
