HPA 20, Ka‘u 1

Kawena Lim-Samura threw a two-hitter Wednesday and senior Ranko Ono went 2 for 3 with three RBIs to lead Hawaii Preparatory Academy past Ka‘u in four innings in the Big Island Interscholastic Federation regular-season softball finale in Waimea.

Ka Makani (1-9) took advantage of 12 Ka‘u walks in the first inning to take an early 8-0 lead. Senior Alexa Meyer and junior Tehani Grasso each chipped in with two-run doubles in a 12-run second inning.

Tiani Naboa and Siena Okimoto both singled for Ka‘u (0-10). Ka‘u scored an unearned run in the top of the third inning to break up Lim-Samura’s shutout bid.
