West Hawaii County Band plays Friday
Hawaii County Department of Parks and Recreation and the West Hawaii County Band are offering a free spring concert from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Friday at Hale Halawai in Kailua-Kona.
The public is welcome to bring a comfortable chair.

Adult Day Center plans fundraiser
Kona Adult Day Center invites the community to its fundraiser from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday at the center in Kealakekua, across from the post office. Teri-steak plate lunches will be sold for $10 and include rice and corn. Tickets may be purchased at the door. Donors may provide monetary donations by mailing them to P.O. Box 1360, Kealakekua, HI 96750. The center is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization and donations are tax deductible.

Garden work day is Friday
A volunteer work day is planned Friday at Konea o Kukui Garden, a nonprofit garden sanctuary in Keokea, North Kohala. To volunteer, email Hawaii@oneisland.org for times and directions.
Konea o Kukui Garden celebrates 13 years of restoration work this month. This healing garden serves all ages of visitors including students on field trips, visitors from around the world and adults recovering from substance abuse. It is also a haven for monarch butterflies.
Puako cleanup is Saturday
Keep the Hawaiian Islands Beautiful will hold a cleanup Saturday at the Puako boat ramp in conjunction with the Great American Cleanup.
The Great American Cleanup is the country’s largest community improvement program that kicks off each spring and engages more than 4 million volunteers in more than 20,000 communities nationwide.

Healthy KeikiFest slated Saturday
The 15th snnual Waimea Healthy KeikiFest will be from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the Parker Ranch Center in Waimea.
This annual celebration of keiki health and safety will feature free hands-on activities for keiki, ages 3 to 12 ranging from sidewalk chalk art at Kahilu Theatre and the secret life of bees to the Center for Active Volcanoes and much more. The North Hawaii Community Hospital Trauma Team will provide complimentary bike helmets and bike safety training to keiki on a first-come basis at the hospital’s booth.
By visiting booths and completing on the hands-on activities offered by each of the participating organizations, keiki will earn credits they can use for a turn in a bouncer or climbing wall.

TEDx conference scheduled in Waimea
Kahilu Theatre in Waimea will showcase TEDxKamuela from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Oct. 4.
With a theme of “Game Changers,” the event will present ideas, conversations, innovations and presentations that will spread ideas throughout Hawaii and share Hawaii’s ideas with the world.

HIV/AIDS Foundation sale is Saturday
The Hawaii Island HIV/AIDS Foundation will hold its annual “Upscale Sale” from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at Pines Plaza, Suite No 1.
