John G. “Jack” Silva, 84, of Hilo died March 28, 2014, at Life Care Center of Hilo. Born in San Francisco, he was a retired sheet metal worker and member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.

Friends may call at 9 a.m. April 23 at St. Joseph Catholic Church for a 10 a.m. service. Burial follows at Homelani Memorial Park. Family requests casual attire be worn and no flowers.

He is survived by daughter, Susan (David) Douglas of Kyle, Texas; sister, Lita Botelho of Homedale, Idaho; two grandsons; nieces and nephews.

Beverly Chu

Beverly Ann Kamomiala Chu, 71, of Hilo died March 15, 2014, at the Hospice of Hilo Pohai Malama facility. Born in Holualoa, she was a retired teacher at Pahoa High and Hilo Intermediate schools and member of Malia Puka O Kalani Catholic Church, Hawaii State Teachers Association and various bowling leagues.

Friends may call at 9 a.m. April 25 at Malia Puka O Kalani Catholic Church in Keaukaha for an 11 a.m. service. Family requests casual attire be worn.

She is survived by husband, Ronald Chu of Hilo; daughters, Ronnette Chu of Hilo, Shawn (Patrick) Chu-Quinn of Florida; son, Wyllis Chu of Hilo; brothers, Calvin (Irene) Oka and Milton Oka, both of Oahu, Sam (Sharaine) Kamakau, Lino (Kristen) Kamakau and Stan (Beverly) Oka, all of Kona, Wendell Oka and Dale Oka, both of California; sister, Olalani Kamakau of California; four grandchildren; nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.

Paz Ducusin

Paz Gallardo Ducusin, 75, of Keaau died March 22, 2014, at Queen’s Medical Center in Honolulu. Born May 3, 1938, in Pagudpud, San Fernando La Union City, Philippines, she was a retired flower cutter in Kuola Farm, a factory worker at Mauna Loa Macadamia Nut Corp. in Keaau and member of Keaau Holy Rosary Catholic Church.

Eugene Pacheco

Eugene “Captain” Pacheco, 82, of Hilo died March 29, 2014, at Yukio Okutsu State Veterans Home. Born Oct. 11, 1931, in Hilo, he was retired from Hilo Coast Processing Co., Korean War Army veteran and member of Family Christian Center.

Friends may call at 6 p.m. April 25 at Family Christian Center in Hilo, 168 Holomua St., for a 7 p.m. service. A committal service will be held at 9 a.m. April 26 at Hawaii Veterans Cemetery No. 2. Family requests casual attire be worn and no flowers.

Lucy Warren

Lucy Lee Warren, 70, of Keaau died April 13, 2014, at Hilo Medical Center. Born Jan. 24, 1944, in Olaa, she was a homemaker and member of Kamauloa Oka Malamalama Hoomana Naauao O Hawaii.

Frances Kama

Frances Chieko Nagai Kama, 77, of Hilo died March 16, 2014, at Life Care Center of Hilo. Born Aug. 3, 1936, in Honolulu, she worked as a book binder at the Kamehameha Schools print shop and Hawaii Library Binding and was a member of Hale o Na Alii, Honolulu chapter.

Friends may call at 9 a.m. April 26 at Kaumakapili Church in Honolulu for a 10:45 a.m. service. Scattering of ashes will be held later. Family requests aloha attire be worn.

She is survived by son, Eric (Vivian) Kama Jr. of Salem, Ore.; daughters, Milli Kama of Pahoa, Alice (James) Santee of Houston; sister, Alice Mau of Honolulu; four grandchildren; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

Franklin Nacnac Sr.

Franklin “NAC” Alcoran Nacnac Sr., 62, of Honokaa died March 25, 2014, at North Hawaii Community Hospital. Born Nov. 27, 1951, in Honokaa, he was a heavy equipment operator for the former Hamakua Sugar Plantation Co., a security guard for Securitas at Hilo Airport, owner of F.E.N. Janitorial Services in Honokaa and member of the Hawaii Army National Guard and Honokaa United Methodist Church.

Friends may call at 9 a.m. April 26 at Honokaa United Methodist Church for an 11 a.m. service. Cremation follows. Family requests casual attire be worn and no flowers.

Harry Nihau Jr.

Harry Kauila Nihau Jr., 75, of Hilo died April 8, 2014, at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Hilo, he was a commercial fisherman and a coach and trainer for the Waiakea High School junior varsity bowling team.

Vilma Yoneda

Vilma “Vicky” Leilani Vellocido Yoneda, 79, of Hilo died April 5, 2014, at Hilo Medical Center. Born May 25, 1934, in Kohala, she was retired from the former Naniloa Surf Hotel, had also worked at the Mauna Kea Beach Hote, was an RSVP volunteer and member of the Golden Girls.

Tsukasa Yamamoto, 94, of Waimea died April 12, 2014, at North Hawaii Community Hospital. Born in Waimea, he was a retired farmer with B.E.S.T. Farms Inc.

Kazue Yamashiro

Kazue “Stella” Yamashiro, 82, of Hilo died April 12, 2014, at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Honaunau, she was a homemaker, member of University Heights Kumiai, former member of the Hilo Uta No Kai karaoke club and a singer for the former Hilo Youth Band.

Friends may call at 3:30 p.m. April 27 at Higashi Hongwanji Church for a 5 p.m. service. A reception follows. Family requests casual attire be worn and no monetary gifts.

Roy Terry

Roy L. Terry, 72, of Keaau died April 10, 2014, at Hospice of Hilo’s Pohai Malama Facility. Born Aug. 22, 1941, in Teton, Idaho, he was a retired school bus driver, trainer and mechanic and owner and dump truck driver for Terry’s Specialty Hauling in Keaau.

He is survived by wife, Bonnie Terry of Keaau; sons, Roger Terry and David Terry both of Arizona, Jason Terry and Duane Terry, both of California; daughter, Julie Gustin of Georgia; stepsons, Stephen (Marah Hardt) Barnes of California, David (Virginia) Barnes of Hilo; 15 grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
