Supreme Court seeks applicants for disciplinary board
The Hawaii Supreme Court is seeking applicants for six lawyer and nonlawyer positions on the disciplinary board. The board’s duties include overseeing the Office of Disciplinary Counsel, which investigates allegations of attorney misconduct and recommends appropriate action to the Hawaii Supreme Court.
The terms will begin July 1 and last three years. The positions are not compensated although travel expenses are reimbursable. Applicants from all islands are sought.

Strength, conditioning classes offered
Hawaii Preparatory Academy has added two class times to the Ka Makani Strength and Conditioning schedule. All classes are open to the public.
A new level 1 class runs from 8 to 9 a.m. every Tuesday and Thursday and another new level 1 class runs from 5:45 to 7 p.m. every Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday. All classes are held at HPA’s Nakamaru Fitness Center at the upper campus. Other classes are scheduled between 9 a.m. and noon Monday through Friday. Fees are $20 per session, or $180 for a 10-session package. Space is limited to 10 participants per class.
Strength and conditioning coordinator J. Kaai Spencer is a certified strength and conditioning specialist with a bachelor’s degree in kinesiology and rehabilitation services and a master’s degree in education and teaching. Spencer leads participants through a progressive training regimen that focuses on durability, posture, core stability, balance, coordination, overall strength, and metabolic conditioning.

Indigenous conservation methods discussed
“Conservation and Changing Climate in Kona: Incorporating Indigenous Ways and Modern Approaches for Resource Conservation” will be the topic of a free lecture offered from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at West Hawaii Civic Center.
Hawaiian cultural historian Hannah Kihalani Springer will discuss care for natural resources and incorporating indigenous ways and strategies for conservation with modern approaches as well. A number of colleagues involved with traditional and modern resource conservation at Kaupulehu will join her.

Story time scheduled Wednesday morning
Kona Stories bookstore, with assistance from the American Association of University Women, will host a story time for children ages 2 to 6 at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday. The theme this month is “Dance.” Story time includes crafts and snacks for a $5 participation fee.
