Mother, daughter tea planned May 10

In honor of mothers everywhere, the public is invited to join speaker and author Mary Lou Sanelli as she shares her humorous and dauntlessly honest reading presentation on mothers and daughters, the life cycle and evolutionary process that lasts a lifetime. The Mother’s Tea is scheduled from 10 a.m. to noon May 10 at the center. An assortment of fruit, herbal teas, coffee and baked items will be served in classical fun and festive tea party theme. Tickets are $20 for members, $25 for nonmembers or $35 for a mother and daughter pair. Reservations are due by 4 p.m. Saturday.

Sanelli works as a writer, columnist and professional speaker and reader. Author of seven books, she tours for public readings throughout the country.

The event is a fundraiser for the Donkey Mill Art Center, a nonprofit charitable organization offering art education for adults and youth. For more information, call 322-3362.

Seed planting event for keiki slated

Kona County Farm Bureau and West Hawaii Master Gardeners are sponsoring a seed planting event for keiki from 8:30 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the Keauhou Farmers Market at Keauhou Shopping Center. Keiki 12 and younger will be able to plant vegetable seeds in containers that they may take home. West Hawaii Master Gardeners will assist keiki in the seed planting process, all materials will be provided. This is a free event to introduce keiki to gardening.

Free shredding event scheduled Saturday

AARP is sponsoring a free shredding event and food drive at 8 a.m. Saturday at Big Island Record and Destruction Center, 73-4164 Hulikoa Drive, No. 5, Kailua-Kona.

AARP invites the public to bring a food donation, as well as old documents containing personal information to be shredded. Documents with staples and paperclips are acceptable. There is a limit of four boxes or bags per person.

Law Day event planned Saturday

Legal Aid Society of Hawaii hosts a Law Day event from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. May 3 at KTA Super Stores on Palani Road as part of a Law Week celebration sponsored by the Bar Association.

Volunteer attorneys from the Young Lawyers Division will be on hand, legal information (not advice) will be provided to the public on a variety topics and a table will contain printed materials and information.
