Live music planned Friday in Holualoa
The Holualoa Village Association will hold an upcountry evening of live music, wine and arts from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday in the Upper Square by the historical hotel and cafe courtyards.
The free event is held on the first Friday of each month for people of all ages.
Exchange students to visit Tuesday Read Aloud Program
The Friends of the Libraries, Kona will host a free, family Read Aloud Program from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Kailua-Kona Public Library. This will be the final program of this school year.
Foreign exchange students from Ukraine, Montenegro, Kazakhstan, and Vietnam will share about their homelands, their culture and their experiences being in Kona for the year.

Taste of the Hawaiian Range scheduled
Mealani’s Taste of the Hawaiian Range is scheduled for Sept. 26 and is expanding to offer three hours of tasting from 5 to 8 p.m.
The 19th annual agricultural festival that showcases the use of pasture-raised, local beef will be held at Hilton Waikoloa Village. Tickets are $45 through Sept. 25 and $60 on the day of the event. They will be sold online and at islandwide locations starting July 1. They will also be available at the door.
The state’s top chefs will prepare dishes using pasture-raised beef, pork, lamb, goat, mutton and wild boar plus fresh island produce.
Anyone who requires an auxiliary aid should contact Jeri Moniz at 960-8411 no later than Aug. 26.
Blood drives scheduled next week
The Blood Bank of Hawaii has changed its donor eligibility criteria and welcomes new and returning donors.
Blood drives are scheduled from 10:45 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday at Solid Rock Ministries at 75-5660 Kopiko St., Suite A1; 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Church of Latter Day Saints Waimea Ward cultural hall at 65-1168 Kapiolani Rd.; 7 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Konawaena High School Gymnasium.

Those wishing to donate must be in good health, 18 or older or 17 with a signed Blood Bank of Hawaii consent form, and weigh at least 110 pounds.

Agritourism class planned for May 15
Kona County Farm Bureau is offering a class on agritourism from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. May 15. Greg Colden, co-owner of Kona Natural Soap Co., presents the class at Kokoleka Lani Farm in Keauhou where Colden and his partner, Marty Corrigan, have been giving agritourism tours for the past seven years. Colden will discuss information relating to agritourism including health issues, insurance, American Disabilities Act, branding recognition, trademarks and copyrights. The class is geared for farmers thinking about giving tours of their farms but also for those who want to learn more about agritourism.
The charge for the class is $10 for Kona County Farm Bureau members, $15 for nonmembers. To register for the class, call Kona County Farm Bureau at 324-6011 or email info@konafarmbureau.org.
Libraries host Theatre for Youth
The Honolulu Theatre for Youth will present “Peter Rabbit and the Garden,” a special stage production of the Peter Rabbit story, at five neighbor island public libraries.
West Hawaii performances are scheduled at 10 a.m. Tuesday at North Kohala Public Library, 889-6655; and at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Kailua-Kona Public Library, 327-4327.
This interactive version is designed specifically for preschoolers and will explore the fine line between curiosity and responsibility. All children must be accompanied by a parent or caregiver.
