IKEA is expanding its recall of children’s lamps to include more than 30 million worldwide because they pose a strangulation hazard to babies. Other consumer products being recalled this week include portable chargers that can overheat and dehumidifiers that can short-circuit.

LAMPS
DETAILS: IKEA children’s wall-mounted lamps sold in various style names, shapes and colors from May 1984 to April 2014. The lamps have a cord, about 7 to 8 feet long with either a switch on the cord or a switch located on the lamp. The following lamp styles are included in the expanded recall: BILEN, FLABB, KUSLIG, LJUSNING, MINNEN, MINNEN FACKLA, MYS HJÄRTLIG, MYS KANIN, MYS MÅNE, MYS RIVIG, PIFFIG, SEGLATS, SKOJIG, SMILA BAGGE, SMILA BLOMMA, SMILA HJÄRTA, SMILA MÅNE, SMILA SNÄCKA, SMILA STJÄRNA, SMILA SJÖHÄST, SMULTRON GRODA, SMYG, SNOIG, STOJA, SUSSA, TASSA, and TASSA NATT. WHY: Children can get entangled in the electrical cord that hangs from the children’s wall-mounted lamps, posing a strangulation hazard.
INCIDENTS: A 15-month-old baby became entangled in the TASSA NATT lamp’s cord and nearly strangled. This incident, and the death of a 16-month-old baby who died after getting entangled in the SMILA lamp’s cord, were reported in the previous recall. In both incidents, which occurred in Europe, the lamp cord was pulled into the crib by the infants.
HOW MANY: About 3.5 million in the U.S., 1.4 million in Canada, And 30.2 million worldwide. This new recall includes IKEA children’s lamps in the firm’s previous recall in December 2013 and expands the number and types of lamps.

USB PORTABLE CHARGERS
DETAILS: Vibe USB Mobile Power Bar, also known as portable USB power supply or portable chargers. The power bars were sold in black, white, blue, green, pink and purple. “Power Bank” is embossed on the face of the device. “Vibe” and “Power Bar” are printed on the front of the black packaging along with an image of the device in one of the six colors. Model number FB-Bar is printed below the UPC code on the bottom of the packaging. They were sold at Five Below stores nationwide from January 2014 to March 2014.
WHY: The power bar can overheat, posing a fire hazard.
INCIDENTS: Six reports of incidents involving melted parts, smoking, leaking batteries and fire resulting in reports of bursting power bars and minor property damage. No injuries have been reported.

DEHUMIDIFIERS
DETAILS: 30-pint portable GE brand dehumidifiers. “GE” and digital controls are located on top of the dehumidifier. Model, serial and manufacture dates are located on a label on the back of the dehumidifier. The recall includes model number ADKW30LN with serial numbers that begin with AT1, DT1, FT1 or GT1. They were sold at Walmart stores nationwide from March 2010 to December 2010.
WHY: A component in the dehumidifier’s compressor can short circuit, posing a fire hazard.
INCIDENTS: One report of a fire contained within the dehumidifier unit. No other property damage or injuries have been reported.

CHILDREN’S JACKETS
DETAILS: FXR Factory Racing Children’s jackets and hoodies. This recall involves 11 styles of FXR child/youth outerwear jackets and hoodies for both boys and girls. They come in sizes 2 through 12. The styles include 9 Child Blizzard Jacket, Child Chase Softshell Hoodie, Child Phase Softshell Hoodie, Youth Chase Softshell Hoodie, Youth Drift Hoodie, Youth Fracture Hoodie, Youth Phantasy Hoodie, Youth Phase Softshell Hoodie, Youth Sophia Hoodie, Y Highland Softshell Hoodie, Y Peak Softshell Jacket. The name of the recalled product is located on the content care label which is sewn into the neck area of the garment. They were sold at U.S. Snowmobile Dealers and on the firm’s website www.fxrracing.com between August 2008 and January 2014.
WHY: Drawstrings can become entangled or caught on playground slides, hand rails, school bus doors or other moving objects, posing a significant strangulation and/or entanglement hazard to children.
INCIDENTS: None reported.

OFF-ROAD MOTORCYCLES
DETAILS: Model year 2014 KLX110 and KLX110L off-road motorcycles. The motorcycles have a 110 cubic centimeter engine, a green fuel tank, shroud cover and fenders, a black seat and white side covers. “Kawasaki” is on both sides of the shroud cover. Model numbers are on both side covers directly beneath the seat. KLX110 models have an automatic clutch, a shift pedal and no clutch lever on the handlebars. KLX110L models have a manual clutch, a shift pedal and a clutch lever on the handlebars. The emission label located below the handlebar and behind the number plate on the steering head states that it is a 2014 model. They were sold at Kawasaki authorized dealers nationwide from July 2013 through March 2014.
WHY: The camshaft sprocket bolts can loosen and come off causing the engine to lock and stop the vehicle, posing a crash hazard.
INCIDENTS: None reported.

THERMOSTATS
DETAILS: This recall involves four models of White-Rodgers digital thermostats. The thermostats are white with blue lighted screens and have one of the following names printed on the front of them: “COMFORTSENTRY,” ”DICO,” ”Emerson,” ”Frigidaire,” ”Maytag,” ”Nutone,” ”Partners Choice,” ”Rheem,” ”Ruud,” ”Unico,” ”Water Furnace,” ”Westinghouse,” ”White-Rodgers” or “Zonefirst.” The thermostats have a battery door on the top left corner. There are three or four buttons to the right and also below the thermostat screen. Recalled thermostats do not show a battery icon on the left side of the blue lighted screen. They were sold at heating ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) equipment manufacturers and distributors and at hardware retailers nationwide from January 2006 through December 2013.
WHY: The alkaline batteries used in the thermostat can leak onto the circuit board posing a fire hazard.
INCIDENTS: Seven reports of burn damage to the thermostat, including two involving minor property damage. No injuries have been reported.

RADIO-CONTROLLED HELICOPTER SETS
DETAILS: Blade 700 X Pro Series Kit, Pro Series Combo and the replacement spindle set. The kits and combos come with parts to assemble a radio-controlled helicopter. The recalled Pro Series Kit is model number BLH5725 and includes the helicopter canopy and the mechanical parts necessary to build the helicopter without the main rotor blades or electronics. The recalled Pro Series Combo is model number BLH5725C and includes the helicopter canopy, the mechanical parts necessary to build the helicopter, the main rotor blades, a receiver, servos and motor. The recalled replacement spindle set is model number BLH5703 and includes two spindle shafts, two screws and four washers. Model numbers for the kit and combo are on the UPC label on one end of the product packaging. The model number for the spindle set is on the front of the packaging. They were sold at hobby stores nationwide and online at horizonhobby.com from July 2013 through August 2013.
WHY: The main rotor washer can fail, causing the blades to come off the helicopter during use. This poses an injury hazard to the operator and bystanders.

HOODED JACKETS
DETAILS: Ripzone Boys’ Hooligan hoodie jacket. The jackets are 100 percent polyester waterproof material and have a front zip closure with Velcro adjustable cuffs. There are two zippered pockets on the front of the jacket and a drawstring around the neck of the garment. The jacket is black with a neon blue stripe diagonal across each shoulder and two neon blue stripes around the bottom of the jacket. The jackets were sold in youth sizes small/petite (s/p) and medium (m). RPZN and the size can be found on the label sewn into the seam of the neck area of the garment. The style number 78938 is located on the care label of the jacket which is on the right front, inside lower seam of the jacket. They were sold at Sport Chalet stores in Arizona, California, Nevada and Utah from August 2013 to October 2013.
WHY: The jackets have a drawstring around the neck area which poses a strangulation hazard to children.
INCIDENTS: None reported.

FLASHLIGHTS
DETAILS: A bronze 3-in-1 flashlight that was distributed as a promotional item for Marlboro brand cigarettes. The flashlight is 4.5 inches long and 1 inch in diameter and has five LED lights. It has a compartment for storing matches and an end cap that has a compass in the top. The cap with the compass has a striker pad on the inside. It came with 20 wooden matches and a removable foam insert between the matches and the striker pad.
WHY: Matches inside the match holder can ignite when in contact with the striker pad beneath the compass cap, posing burn and injury hazards to consumers.
INCIDENTS: 11 reports of the matches igniting inside the product, including two reports of the product exploding. One consumer reported receiving minor burns and one reported receiving medical attention for injuries to his hand.

BABY COVERALLS
DETAILS: All styles of J. Crew Holiday 2013 and Spring 2014 baby coveralls in sizes newborn to 3T, which were sold exclusively at J.Crew stores in New York and California, online at jcrew.com and the J.Crew catalog from October 2013 to March 2014. The coveralls were sold in various colors and designs including prints and stripes. A care label sewn into the inside left seam of the garment reads either “HO’ 13” or “SP ‘14,” and lists the PO number and style number.
