Area veterans clinic is top notch

I am a veteran. There … I said it.

There was a time not too long ago when veterans didn’t divulge to other citizens that they were veterans. Thankfully, that is no longer the case. But I digress.

We are seeing in parts of the country that various Veterans Administration hospitals are intentionally ignoring the needs of the very people they have been tasked to serve. Veterans are dying waiting to get into these hospitals that are systematically dragging their feet and turning away from their plight. Now, members of Congress are saying the problem may be nationwide. I can honestly say that it is not happening here in Kona. The local clinic is staffed by people and professionals who actually care about veterans and their somewhat unique problems. And yes, we can be big pains in the okole. However, when you walk through that door you are greeted by Ben, Sandy, Steph and Kathy and treated as if your wallet is stuffed with cash.

The medical staff is top notch and everyone who works there is united by one theme — you served our country and now it is our turn to serve you. What a concept.
