Fiber artisans called for exhibit
The Waimea Arts Council is putting out a call for quilt and fiber artisans for a June art show at the Firehouse Gallery, located at the main intersection in Waimea.
“Quilt & Fiber Exhibition,” a fine craft show by local artists will be held June 4 through 29 with a reception scheduled from 5 to 7 p.m. June 6.
This event offers fiber artists the opportunity to exhibit and to sell their art. Exhibiting artists are required to volunteer four hours during gallery hours. Performance showcases 125 area dancers
“Just Dance,” the annual showcase for The Dancing Tree, Studio for Dance and Movement of Kealakekua, will be held at 3:30 p.m. Sunday at Kahilu Theatre. The event will highlight ballet, tap, jazz, hip-hop and include 125 area dancers of all ages.
Dancing Tree Studio founder and director of “Just Dance,” Seatree Osage was born and raised in Kona and has been dancing since she was 4 years old.

‘Beauty and the Beast Jr.’ coming to Aloha Theatre
Aloha Teen Theatre, a division of Aloha Performing Arts Company, will present the Disney musical “Beauty and the Beast Jr.” at 7:30 p.m. May 30 and 31 and 2:30 p.m June 1 at Aloha Theatre in Kainaliu.
Directed by Roxanne Fox, the show features an all-teen cast. Tickets may be purchased at alohatheatre.com, by phone between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. weekdays at 322-9924 or at the door beginning one hour prior to show time. Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for children younger than 18 in advance, and $15 and $10 the day of the show.

Fashion show highlights Hawaii designers
In celebration of Maoli Arts Month, the PAI Foundation will debut their Wearable Art Show at 7 p.m. May 31 at Kahilu Theatre.
Native Hawaiian designers will be featured in the fashion show, including Micah Kamohoalii, Wahine Toa, Maile Andrade, Keone Nunes and Marques Marzan. The show will incorporate Hawaiian performing arts into the runway show and include lei makers, Hawaiian food and a trunk show.
Proceeds benefit the PAI Foundation, a nonprofit organization whose mission is to preserve and perpetuate Hawaiian cultural traditions. Tickets are $60 or $35 depending on seating and are available at kahilutheatre.org or by calling 885-6868.
