Hawaii Volcanoes National Park recently announced upcoming flight plans.

Park management requires the aircraft use to monitor and research volcanic activity, conduct search-and-rescued missions and law enforcement operations, support management of natural and cultural resources, as well as to maintain backcountry facilities.

From 8 a.m. to noon June 9, 13, 23, and 27, aircraft will be transporting fencing material from Mauna Loa Road to upper Mauna Loa.

Between 8 a.m and noon June 17, aircraft will be used for petrel monitoring from the summit of Kilauea to Mauna Loa.

From 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. June 23, aircraft will be used for fountain grass control from Keauhou to Pepeiao and the Great Crack in the southwest rift zone.

Officials said they regret any noise impact to residents and park visitors. Dates and times are subject to change based on aircraft availability and weather.
