The Blue Sea Artisans Gallery featured artist for the month of June is potter and sand art artist Teresea Boswell. A featured artist’s reception is planned from 1 to 4 p.m. June 14 at the gallery.

Boswell has had the pleasure of experiencing the Hawaiian Islands since 1990. She embraced the artisan movement in Hawaii and quickly saturated herself in the many potential mediums that were available. Her early experience exploring the local beaches provided her with the desire to combine the beach sand, sea shells and sea glass into sand art creations taking many beautiful shapes and fashions in forms of vases, lamps and candle holders. Her exquisite work has made its way into many homes around the world.

Boswell and her family moved to Waimea in 1993 and the doors opened for Boswell to begin experiencing ceramics. Working with porcelain and stoneware clay, she has created works highlighting the many beautiful leaves and ferns Hawaii has to offer, imprinted into them.

In 2009, Boswell founded the Blue Sea Artisans Gallery, located at the Kona International Market, where she hosted a variety of local artists. In May of 2013, she turned the gallery over to its members and formed a true cooperative gallery.

For more information, call the gallery at 329-8000. The gallery is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday and from 11 a.m. 4 p.m. Sunday.
