Jacklyn “Jackie” Ann Au, 52, of Ocean View died May 21, 2014, at Kona Community Hospital. Born Jan. 20, 1962, in Multnomah, Ore., she was a caregiver, a former truck driver, former supervisor at Little Caesar’s, a house painter, carpenter and volunteer for the Food Bank in Ocean View.
Friends may call at noon June 8 at Aunty Pauline’s Beach Lot at Honaunau Beach for a service. Family requests casual attire be worn.
She is survived by son, Kahikili Au of Hawaii; daughters, Lila (Glenn Beauford) Uyeshiro and Leela Uyeshiro, both of Ocean View, Leila Boyd of Kahaluu, Oahu, Leesa Uyeshiro of Hilo, Leana Rumsey of Oregon; father, Richard Holver of Oregon; mother, Mary Maciel of Oregon; brother, Thomas Kelekolio of Honaunau; sisters, Juliana Kelekolio and Angel (Arnold) Jacobsen, both of Oregon; eight grandchildren; one great-grandchild; numerous nieces and nephews.

Allan Carter Rogers, 62, of Hilo died May 30, 2014, at his home. Born May 29, 1952, in Brawley, Calif., he was a co-owner of ACR Dollar + store at the Hilo Shopping Center, was retired from AT&T in Los Angeles and was an Army veteran.

He is survived by wife, Christine Rogers of Hilo; four children; mother; one brother; two sisters; grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Ronald Addington Sr.
Ronald Francis “Sam” Addington Sr., 78, of Keaau died May 24, 2014, at Yukio Okutsu State Veterans Home. Born in Hilo, he was a retired construction worker, a Marine Corps veteran and member of the Wailoa River Rats.

Charles Shim Ung Aina Jr., 59, of Hilo died June 1, 2014, at Hilo Medical Center. Born Jan. 6, 1955, in Hilo, he was the owner and designer of Charles S.U. Aina Jr. Inc. architecture planning and interior design consultant in Hilo and member of Akaka Falls Lion’s Club.

Patricia Lou Pung, 81, of Kawaihae died May 29, 2014. Born July 13, 1932, in Ninole, she worked as a cashier at Mauna Kea Beach Hotel and attended Annunciation Catholic Church.

Susumi Kajiwara, 86, of Hilo died April 19, 2014, under the care of Hospice. Born in Kealakekua, he was retired as a machinist for Hawaiian Equipment Co.

Diane Billingsley
Diane “Kara” Dolores Billingsley, 76, of Captain Cook died May 4, 2014, at her residence. Born July 30, 1937, in San Francisco, she was a retired teacher, an author of poetry and short stories, owner and operator of Karaden Farm and Aloha Ocean Hideaway, co-founder of the Kona Crisis Center, member of Greenpeace, the Sierra Club, Audubon Society and National Wildlife Foundation.
A private service was held. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to PBS or Greenpeace Foundation.
She is survived by daughter, Roxanne (Isaac Dela Cruz) Locher of Captain Cook; son, Christopher (Nicole) Locher of Lexington, Mass.; sister, Joan (Ronald) Mackin of Monte Sereno, Calif.; brother, Walter (Rose) MacDonald of San Jose, Calif.; three grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

Alice Mildred Gutmann, 84, of Pahoa died June 2, 2014, at Life Care Center of Hilo. Born March 19, 1930, in Poughkeepsie, N.Y., she was a nurse at Castle Point Veterans Hospital in Duchess County, N.Y.

Pearl Tsuyako Maki, 91, of Kurtistown died May 25, 2014, at Hale Anuenue Restorative Care Center. Born in Olaa, she was the owner of the former Pearl’s Anthuriums, was formerly employed by Mauna Loa Mac Nut and Volcano House and was a member of New Hope Puna.

She is survived by sons, Richard (Caroline) Niimi of Mountain View, Robert (Cynthia) Niimi of Kurtistown; daughter, Pearl (Eugene) Worley of Irvine, Calif.; stepdaughters, Marlene (Melvin) Lum of Honolulu, Stella (Raymond) Miyashiro of Hilo, Erma Maki of Honolulu; seven grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Akiko Hanano, 87, of Waimea died May 27, 2014, at her home. Born April 1, 1927, in Honokaa, she was a retired clerk for the U.S. Postal Service and member of the Kamuela Hongwanji Mission, Kamuela American Japanese Civic Association and Kamuela Hongwanji Buddhist Women’s Association.
