Bayani Quebral Araw Jr., 43, of Pepeekeo died June 2, 2014, at his residence. Born Aug. 16, 1970, in Hilo, he was employed by Ron’s Auto Body &Paint in Hilo.

Friends may call at 6 p.m. June 17 at Dodo Mortuary chapel for a 7 p.m. wake service. Friends may also call at 8 a.m. June 18 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Papaikou for a 10 a.m. Mass. Cremation follows. Family requests casual attire be worn.

He is survived by wife, Shana Araw of Pepeekeo; daughters, Shaylyn Araw and Shayann Araw, both of Pepeekeo; sons, Kelsen-John Araw and Kaesen-John Araw, both of Pepeekeo; parents, Bayani Sr. and Aurora Araw of Pepeekeo; sisters, Marichu (Constantine) Inocelda and Maria (Harold) Helfgott, both of San Francisco, Marites (Jaime) Dameg of Pepeekeo; brother, Mario (Julie) Araw of Pepeekeo; one grandson; numerous uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces and cousins.

Lawrence DeSilva

Lawrence Kainoa DeSilva, 71, of Hilo died May 31, 2014, at Hilo Medical Center. Born April 5, 1943, in Hilo, he was a retired machinist and Army veteran.

Friends may call at 9 a.m. June 17 at Dodo Mortuary chapel for a 10 a.m. service. Burial follows at Hawaii Veterans Cemetery No. 2. Family requests casual attire be worn.

He is survived by wife, Josepha DeSilva of Hilo; son, Waylon (Tracey Gamayon) DeSilva of Hilo; brother, Darell DeSilva of Hilo; sisters, Doris (Robert) Sanborn of Kona, Geraldine (Aki) Asano of San Jose, Calif.; one granddaughter; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Kikumi Goshi

Kikumi Goshi, 87, of Hilo died June 5, 2014, at the Hospice of Hilo Pohai Malama Facility. Born Oct. 25, 1926, in Pahoa she was a retired ticket agent for Hawaiian Airlines.

Friends may call at 3 p.m. June 16 at Dodo Mortuary chapel for a 4 p.m. service. Family requests casual attire be worn.

She is survived by daughter, Debra (Roy) Goshi-Otaguro of Honolulu; brother, Shinsuke (Akiko) Shimabukuro of Mountain View; hanai brother, Robert Nagamine of Hilo; two grandchildren; numerous nephews, nieces and cousins.

Viola Santos

Viola Frances “Vickie” Rabago Santos, 67, of Hilo died May 25, 2014, at Kona Community Hospital. Born Dec. 7, 1946, in Hakalau, she was a homemaker, former foster parent, janitor at Hilo Intermediate School and a field worker for Hawaiian Phoenix.

Private services were held. A celebration of life will be from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. June 17 at Wailoa State Park’s first pavilion. Family requests casual attire be worn. Lei are welcome.

She is survived by daughter, Verna (Curtis Sr.) Badua of Pahoa; sons, Roy Santos Jr. of Kona, Kerry (Lorebell Ventura) Santos of Hilo; hanai son, Brigido (Sephora) Quebral III of Pepeekeo; sisters, Nancy (Dennis) Gabriel Sr. of Hilo, Lydia (Brigido) Quebral Jr. of Pepeekeo; brothers, Morris (June) Rabago of Pepeekeo, Francisco (Juk) Rabago Jr. of Oahu; 14 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; one aunt; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Kaimana Kaimiola

Kaimana Colbert Kaleo Kaimiola, 27, of Kailua-Kona died May 19, 2014, at Kona Community Hospital. Born Sept. 20, 1986, in Kealakekua, he was a carpenter for Maryl Construction Co., a former employee of E.M. Rivera Construction and Western Machinery, and member of Kai Opua Canoe Club.

Friends may call at 8 a.m. June 28 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church at the Honokohau Industrial Park for a 10 a.m. service. A luncheon will follow. For information, call 895-4453.

He is survived by parents, Colbert and Georgine-Tita Kaimiola of Kailua-Kona; sons, Nakoanui Kaimiola and Urijah Kaimiola, both of Kailua-Kona; sisters, Puanani Kaimiola and Hokulani Kaimiola, both of Kailua-Kona; grandmother, Beatrice Baoy of Honaunau; numerous uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces and nephew.

Edward Cahill Sr.

Edward Patrick Cahill Sr., 91, of Pepeekeo died June 3, 2014, at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Bronx, N.Y., he was an engineer for Mobil Oil, former director of Air &Water Quality for Dade County, Fla., World War II veteran and a retired lieutenant commander with the Navy Reserve.

Services will be held at a later date.

He is survived by son, Edward (Ana) Cahill Jr. of Pepeekeo; daughter, Maureen (Mike) Coli of Lake in the Hills, Ill.; four grandchildren; one great-grandson.

Betty Pershing

Betty L. Pershing, 94, of Kailua-Kona died June 4, 2014, at Kona Community Hospital. Born Oct. 5, 1919, in Pennsylvania, she was a teacher, author, attended Mokuaikaua Congregational Church, was a partner at Hansi Ministries and Bible teacher.

Private services are planned.

She is survived by brother, Dick Pershing of Indian Wells, Calif.

Teizo Sumida

Teizo Sumida, 94, of Hilo died April 29, 2014, at Yukio Okutsu State Veterans Home. Born in Hilo, she was a retired maintenance worker with the former Naniloa Surf Hotel, a World War II Army veteran and also worked for the former Von Hamm Young, Taka’s Appliance and Teves Refrigeration companies.

Private services were held. Family requests no monetary donations.

He is survived by sons, Brian (Judith) Sumida of Oakland, Calif., Dean (Sandra) Sumida of Hilo; daughter, Janne (Cullen) Fujimoto of Mililani, Oahu; brother, Shizuo (Doris) Sumida of Pepeekeo; sisters, Itsuko (Harold) Nakagawa of Monterey Park, Calif., Ritsuko Olson of Hilo; five grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

Mary McDougall

Mary Caroline Perry McDougall, 59, of Pahoa died June 3, 2014, at Pohai Malama. Born Aug. 13, 1954, in Honolulu, she was a retired sales associate for Verizon, a public relations worker for McDonald’s Hawaii and member of the VFW Women’s Auxiliary Post 3830.

She is survived by son, Rex (Jasmine) Young II of Kapolei, Oahu; daughter, Kasi Young of Honolulu; sisters, Joshlynn Keahi of Honolulu, Scotlee McDougall of Honokaa, Tutabelle (Jose) Ojeda of Keaau; brother, Dougal McDougall of Honolulu; four grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

Janice Mikul

Janice Jane Mikul, 73, of Hilo died June 7, 2014, at her residence. Born in Phoenix, she was a homemaker.

Private services were held. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to Hospice of Hilo.

She is survived by daughters, Melody Dean of Eagle, Idaho, Holly Mikul of Boise, Idaho; son, Paul Mikul of Hilo; sisters, Marylou (Graham) Reedy of Enumclaw, Wash., Sara (Steve) Blinco of Riverside, Calif.; brother, Bill (Esther) Argabright of Sacramento, Calif.; three grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
