Send the bill to the environmentalists

I’ve seen multiple letters in this column recently and they all claim more than 97 percent of climate scientists agree “global warming” is caused by human activity. I guess if you tell a lie often enough people will believe it.

The facts about the true causes of climate change in the world’s scientific communities are considerably less certain than global warming zealots portray. It is impossible to provide statistics, figures and scientific opinion in this restricted forum, but I invite you — as I have — to research for yourself the facts of climate change.

For more than 30 years we’ve heard dire predictions of catastrophic calamities because of global warming are coming (remember Al Gore). “The oceans will rise.” “More and stronger storms and hurricanes will befall us.” “Droughts, floods, wild fires, withering crops.” All because of global warming and we’re the cause and we need to spend bazzillions of dollars before it’s too late.

The fact is the oceans haven’t risen. Storms, floods, droughts and wildfires are no worse now, statistically speaking, than any time in our recorded history — again, I invite you to research this for yourselves. So, here’s what I propose. If you truly believe that spending trillions of dollars is necessary to save this planet then, by all means, you go ahead and spend it. Just don’t ask for my money to fix this figment of your imagination. At least not until there is some actual, physical evidence there really is global warming.
