Woman dies after snorkeling at Hanauma Bay

HONOLULU — Honolulu police say a woman died in an apparent drowning while snorkeling Sunday at Hanauma Bay.

KHON-TV reports the 42-year-old woman experienced problems about 70 yards off shore shortly before 10 a.m.

She was taken to shore and was experiencing difficulty breathing. She then lost consciousness and had no pulse.

Ocean Safety personnel performed CPR on her and her pulse resumed.

She was transported to a hospital in critical condition by Emergency Medical Services personnel but died at the hospital.
