HONOLULU — A 74-year-old Kailua man has been sentenced to four years and four months in prison for possessing child pornography videos and images on his computer.

The Honolulu Star-Advertiser reports U.S. District Judge Derrick Watson also fined Michael Look $15,000 and ordered him to register as a sex offender.

The computer science engineer in April 2013 pleaded guilty to one count of possession. His computer contained more than 1,000 videos and 600 images.

Watson told Look that possession is not a victimless crime and that demand creates supply.

Watson said he considered Look’s lack of criminal history and volunteer work before he imposed the sentence.

Prosecutors sought a prison sentence of six years and six months. They requested a fine of $12,500 and restitution to victims of $160,000.
