Douglas strengthened again to a tropical storm early Friday, National Hurricane Center in Miami forecasters said.

Forecasters, however, say that Douglas is expected to weaken Friday back to a tropical depression, and then to remnant low on Saturday or Sunday. Tropical Storm Douglas is located approximately 530 miles west-southwest of the southern tip of Baja California, according to the center. Douglas has maximum sustained winds of 40 mph and is moving northwest around 6 mph.

Forecasters are also keeping tabs on a low pressure area that could form well to the south of southwestern Mexico by early next week. Some development of this system is possible thereafter as it moves west-northwestward.

Forecasters gave the area of low pressure a zero percent chance of forming into a tropical cyclone by early next week. They gave the area a 20 perrcent chance of forming into a tropical cyclone during the next five days.
