HONOLULU — A 71-year-old man has died of injuries suffered when he was run over by a Honolulu city bus.

The man’s name was not immediately released because authorities were trying to contact his family.

It was the second city bus fatality with pedestrians in three days.

The Honolulu Star-Advertiser reports the man Saturday afternoon in Waikiki was trying to board the bus through a side door.

He fell as the bus began to pull away and the vehicle ran over his legs. He died at the Queen’s Medical Center.

A 55-year-old man died early Thursday when he was struck by a bus on North King Street between Middle Street and Gulick Avenue.
