HONOLULU — A man visiting Hawaii from Utah died after experiencing problems while snorkeling.

The man’s name and hometown were not immediately released.

Witnesses say the man appeared to be in his 40s.

The Honolulu Star-Advertiser reports the man was snorkeling Sunday at Shark’s Cove off Oahu’s north shore and nearly drowned.

He was pulled from the water without a pulse.

Lifeguards and firefighters performed cardio-pulmonary resuscitation. He regained a pulse and started breathing.

The man was rushed in critical condition to a hospital and died at the facility.
