HONOLULU — A 75-year-old Honolulu man making his daily trek to a gas station to buy a morning newspaper was struck and killed by suspected drunken driver.

Honolulu police identified the victim as Andrew Park Jr. He died after the accident at 5:15 a.m. Tuesday.

Family members tell Hawaii News Now that he usually drives to get his newspaper, but for some reason, decided to walk Tuesday morning.

Police say the driver of the car that struck Park failed a field sobriety test and was arrested on negligent homicide and operating a vehicle under the influence of an intoxicant counts. Charges against the driver weren’t immediately filed.
