HONOLULU — A woman was seriously injured after falling from a ledge into ocean water at the mouth of Hanauma Bay.

The Honolulu Star-Advertiser reports the woman fell shortly after 9 a.m. Wednesday near a rock formation known as “Baboon’s Nose.”

Public access to the site is restricted and it’s not visible to lifeguards.

A fisherman pulled the woman from the water.

Lifeguards on paddleboards and personal watercraft stabilized the woman on a backboard.

She was flown by Honolulu Fire Department rescue helicopter to Koko Head Shooting Range, where an ambulance crew treated her for a head injury and cuts.

She was taken to a hospital.
