B. bassiana workshop slated Wednesday
The last scheduled Kona Coffee Farmers Association-sponsored workshop for B. bassiana voucher eligibility is scheduled from 1:30 to 3:15 p.m. Wednesday at the University of Hawaii College of Tropical Agriculture and Human Resources, located mauka of the Aloha Theatre in Kainaliu. It is mandatory that a farmer or farm manager attend this refresher workshop in order to get the 50 percent off voucher.
Directly after the B. bassiana workshop, at 3:30 p.m., the Sprayer Hui component of the KCFA grant project will meet, giving farmers shared access to mist sprayers for B. bassiana application. Everyone is welcome to attend that event.
Portuguese bread baking today
The Kona Historical Society will have its Portuguese Stone Oven Bread Baking program today. The oven will be closed Thursday and July 24. The bread will be available for purchase from noon until sold out.

Tutu’s House hosting programs
Tutu’s House in Waimea is hosting the following programs this week:
• Caregiving Conversations, 12:30 to 2 p.m. Wednesday. Karyn Clay, professional caregiver since 1995 and owner of Hoonani Place, Waimea’s adult day care will speak.
• Home and Vehicle Security, 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday. Community Policing Officer D. Smith-Erickson will discuss security methods and tips to protect a home from burglary and a vehicle from theft.
• Basic Medicare Facts, 6 to 7 p.m. Thursday. Ed Hickey, AARP volunteer educator will present information to help attendees gain a basic understanding of how the Medicare program works.
• Seniors Safe &Independent, 1 to 2 p.m. Friday. Lexi McKay of the Elder Abuse Prevention &Prosecution Unit of the Hawaii County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office will discuss seniors can keep themselves and their loved ones safe. Participants will learn how to recognize and avoid financial exploitation, and what resources are available to both report abuse and arrange services to keep a senior at home, safe and independent.
