HONOLULU — The Candidate Advisory Council is seeking people to serve on the University of Hawaii’s Board of Regents.

The council will send recommendations to the governor, who will appoint members. The appointments are subject to confirmation by the state Senate.

The board has six vacant seats. Four members resigned after a new state law took effect requiring members to publicly disclose some financial information. Two other seats are for five year terms beginning next July.

The council on Friday strongly urged those interested to apply by Aug. 1. Applications for interim appointments must be submitted by Aug. 15. Applications for those serving five-year terms beginning next year must be submitted by Oct. 31.

Board of Regents members serve voluntarily and are not paid.
