Austin Yurong

Austin “Loea” Loeamaikalani Yurong, 20, of Ocean View died July 13, 2014, at The Queen’s Medical Center. Born Dec. 20, 1993, in Hilo, he was a landscaper for Tropical Land Care in Kona.

Friends may call at 10 a.m. July 26 at Old Kona Park Airport pavilion 4 for a service. For information, call 330-5362.

He is survived by parents, Adele and Adrian Yurong Jr., both of Ocean View; brothers, Nano (Ashley) Perreira-Yurong of Kailua-Kona, Kanani Perreira-Yurong of Hilo, Aiden Yurong of Ocean View; sisters, Shante (Kawika) Vierra of Waianae, Oahu, Akayla-Marie Yurong and Aleia Yurong, both of Ocean View; grandparents, Delbert and Mona Costa of Laupahoehoe, Nano (Gwen) Yurong of Honaunau, Haunani (Stanley) Yorong of Hilo; hanai daughter, Kaizlyn-Marie Caraballo of Waianae, Oahu; numerous uncles, aunts, cousins, friends, nieces and nephews.

Denny Dement Sr.

Denny Clifford Dement Sr., 87, of Waimea died July 21, 2014, at North Hawaii Community Hospital. Born in Honolulu, he was a retired Board of Water Supply employee with the City and County of Honolulu, a security guard for Securitas Security Services, and member of the Waimea 2nd Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Waimea Senior Citizens Alulike Hil and the Waimea Nutrition Program.

Friends may call at 8 a.m. July 28 at the Waimea Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for a 10 a.m. service. Burial follows at the Waimea County Cemetery, Mormon Section. Family requests casual attire be worn.

He is survived by wife, Bertha Dement of Waimea; sons, Kai (Linda) Kaholokai of Kawaihae, Bert (Darlene) Dement of Waimanalo, Oahu; daughters, Marilei (George) Lindsey and Ann Dement, both of Waimea; brother, Ronald (Jeanette) Dement of Hawaii Kai, Oahu; sisters, Maile (Albert) Shidaki of Honolulu, Marvis (Richard) Fujita of Pearl City, Oahu; 16 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

Misae Kinard

Misae “Gramma” Kinard, 92, of Hilo died June 22, 2014, at Hilo Medical Center.Born in Hilo, she was a retired senior dining room manager with the former Naniloa Surf Hotel and member of Kinoole Baptist Church.

Friends may call at 4 p.m. July 28 the Dodo Mortuary chapel for a 5 p.m. service. Family requests casual attire be worn and no flowers.

She is survived by daughters, Laura Kinard of Orange County, Calif., Sharon Milar of Hilo; four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren.

Henry Rodrigues Jr

Henry Rodrigues Jr., 73, of Holualoa died July 16, 2014, at Kona Community Hospital. Born Sept. 11, 1940, in Kealakekua, he was a self-employed contractor and co-owner of R&N Inc., member of Kahaluu Kumia iand Parks and Recreation Senior Bowling League and an Army veteran.

Friends may call at noon July 29 at West Hawaii Veterans Cemetery for a service. Family requests casual attire be worn.

He is survived by wife, Maisie Rodgrigues of Holualoa; sons, Henry Rodrigues III of Germany, Brandon (Cherry) Shirota of Tampa, Fla., Shannon (Della) Shirota of Hilo; daughters, Corinna Rodrigues of Germany, Christy (Coran) Kitaoka of Kailua-Kona; half brother, Robert (Terry) Henriques of Honokohau; stepbrother, Gilbert (Janet) Henriques of Kealakekua; hanai sister, Gladys Jose of Holualoa; nine grandchildren; one great-grandchild; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Gail Keomaka

Gail Haunani Keomaka, 64, of Kailua-Kona died July 19, 2014, at Kona Community Hospital. Born June 7, 1950, in Hilo, she was a housing manager for Kona Village.

Services were held. Condolences may be posted at homelanimemorialpark.com.

She is survived by brothers, Samuel (Elizabeth) Keomaka of El Mirage, Ariz., Daniel Keomaka of Hilo; sister, Mary Ann Keomaka of Kailua-Kona; nieces and nephews.

Fusayo Matsuyama

Fusayo Matsuyama, 97, of Hilo died July 8, 2014, in Hilo. Born March 20, 1917, in Paauilo, she was the retired owner of the former Hawaii Bargain Store and member of Honpa Hongwanji Hilo Betsuin Kyodan, Buddhist Women’s Association, and Houselots Family and Community Education Club.

Private services were held. In lieu of monetary gifts or flowers, donations in her memory may be made to Hawaii Island Adult Care, 34 Rainbow Drive, Hilo, HI 96720, or Honpa Hongwanji Hilo Betsuin, 398 Kilauea Ave., Hilo, HI 96720.

She is survived by daughters, Corliss Yamaki and Sandra (Lloyd) Nishida, both of Hilo, Faith (Leslie) Kanda, of Pearl City, Oahu; eight grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
