Nurses promote emergency preparedness
During this hurricane season, West Hawaii Public Health Nurses are collaborating with retailers to promote emergency preparedness. Public Health Nurses will be at the Kealakekua Ranch Center, Kmart and the Keauhou and Waimea KTA locations from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday, where they will display the nine essential items to keep in case of a hurricane.

Candidate forum slated Thursday in Waikoloa
A forum featuring candidates for State Senate District 4, State House District 7 and Hawaii County Council District 9 will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Waikoloa School cafeteria.
The candidates for State Senate District 4 are Malama Solomon, Lorraine Inouye and Alain Schiller. The candidate for State House District 7 is Cindy Evans. Hawaii County Council District 9 candidates are Margaret Wille, Sonny Shimaoka and Ron Gonzales.
This forum is free public event hosted by the Waikoloa Community Development Plan with help from Waikoloa Village Association, Friends of the Library – Waikoloa Region, the Senior Center and Waikoloa Community Development Corporation. Light refreshments will be available.
