Lillian Leihulu Agtarap, 74, of Keaau died July 11, 2014, at her residence. Born March 20, 1940, in Lihue, Kauai, she was a professional entertainer.

Friends may call from 9 a.m. to noon Aug. 2 at the Way of Salvation Church; 4565 Mamane St. in Kapaa, Kauai, for a service. Friends may call again at 10 a.m. Aug. 9 at Thy Word Ministries in Hilo for an 11 a.m. service. A luncheon will follow. Family requests casual attire be worn.

She is survived by sons, Llewellyn (Pomai) Kaui, Shane Kaui and Kyle Agtarap, all of Keaau, Kameron Agtarap of Kapaa, Kauai; daughters, Arleen (Allen) Kuwamura of Kauai, Charmaine (Dennis) Della Bona of California, Jessica Agtarap of Keaau; sisters, Mildred Chow of Puhi, Kauai, Elsie Kaahaaina of Waianae, Oahu, Louisa Brown of Arkansas. Alice Puanani Silverman of Anahola, Kauai; 13 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

Charles Kainoa

Charles “Black Hawk” Kainoa, 82, of Waimea died July 20, 2014, at Hilo Medical Center. Born Feb. 5, 1932, in North Kohala, he was a retired water control specialist for Parker Ranch.

Friends may call at 8 a.m. Aug. 2 at Sacred Hearts Catholic Church in Hawi for a 10 a.m. service. Burial follows at the church cemetery.

He is survived by son, Charles Kainoa Jr. of San Diego; daughters, Tammy Kainoa of San Diego, Donna (Herman) Carvalho of Kailua-Kona; brother, Peter Kainoa of the West Coast; sisters, Lily Akana of Honolulu, Rose Ha of Wahiawa, Oahu, Mary Lee of Waipahu, Oahu; hanai sister, Blossom (William) Mailliard of Cochranton, Pa.; caregiver, Olinda Cazimero of Waimea; numerous nieces and nephews.

Carol Kato

Carol Ann Kato, 70, of Waianae, Oahu, died June 29, 2014, at The Queen’s Medical Center in Honolulu. Born in Kailua-Kona, she was a retired public school teacher for Waianae Intermediate School and member of Kona Club of Honolulu and Halau Mapuna Leo.

Friends may call at 5:30 p.m. Aug. 2 at Mililani Mortuary Mauka Chapel for a 6:30 p.m. service. Private interment will be at a later date. Family rquests casual attire be worn. Flowers are welcome.

She is survived by husband, Hideo Kato; sons, Michael (Cerry) Kato, Ryan (Joann) Kato, Kevin (Jessica) Kato; brother, Grant (Elaine) Uehara; sisters, Aileen Kuboyama, Laura (Herbert) Kaku, Taggie (Roy) Okino, Stella Uehara; one grandchild; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

Joseph McCleskey

Joseph Hall McCleskey, 72, of Honokaa died July 17, 2014, at North Hawaii Community Hospital. Born July 20, 1941, in Hutchinson, Kan., he was a nuclear engineer, a project manager for PICHTR at the Open Cycle Ocean Thermal Energy Conversion facility in Kailua-Kona, a trustee chairman for Honokaa United Methodist Church, owner of Misty Acres coffee farm and a Navy veteran

Friends may call at 10 a.m. Aug. 2 at Honokaa United Methodist Church, 45-3525 Mamane St. in Honokaa. Family requests casual attire be worn and no flowers.

He is survived by wife, Sandy McCleskey of Honokaa; one aunt; several cousins.

Jensen Teruya

Jensen Isamu Teruya, 61, of Keaau died July 22, 2014, at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Honolulu, he was a retired finish carpenter with Nakamoto Concrete and Ivan Mochida Contracting Inc.

Regina “Gina” Marie Callo Ebanies, 58, of Hilo died July 5, 2014, at Hilo Medical Center. Born Oct. 21, 1955, in Hilo, she was a retired adult supervisor at Waiakea Elementary School cafeteria and member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hilo.

Friends may call at 8 a.m. Aug. 4 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hilo for a 10 a.m. service. Burial will be at 11 a.m. at Alae Cemetery.

Carl Smith

Carl William Smith, 65, of Hilo died July 23, 2014, at Yukio Okutsu State Veterans Home. Born in Cincinnati, he was a retired multimedia artist and a Vietnam Army veteran.

A graveside service will take place at noon Aug. 5 at Hawaii Veterans Cemetery No. 2. Family requests casual attire be worn.

He is survived by caregiver, Ben Abarca of Hilo.

Dorothy Paiva

Dorothy Freitas Paiva, 85, of Honokaa died July 19, 2014, at home. Born in Kalopa, she was a retired cook for Mauna Kea Beach Hotel and Resort, senior volunteer at Honokaa University of Hawaii Community College and member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church and Honokaa Senior Citizens Club.

A graveside service will be held at 9 a.m. Aug. 6 at Hawaii Veterans Cemetery No. 2 in Hilo.

She is survived by sons, Patrick Paiva of Honokaa, Dennis (Debbie) Paiva of Sacramento, Calif.; brother, Edwin Freitas of Ahualoa; sisters, Janet (Dan) Patten of Reno, Nev., Pat (Fentiman) DeCambra of Waimea; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Mary Garmon

Mary Callie Puaala Garmon, 48, of Waimea died June 16, 2014, at North Hawaii Community Hospital. Born March 28, 1966, in Oceanside, Calif., she was a Hawaiian studies teacher for Waimea and Parker Elementary schools and Waimea Middle School, a former Hawaiian studies teacher for the Kamehameha Schools’ summer program at Waimea Elementary School, a volunteer at Honokaa Relay for Life, Honokaa High School Ensemble Alumni concert, Moku O Keawe International Hula Festival, member of the Edith Kanakaole Foundation, committee member and coordinator for the Clyde Kindy Sproat Falsetto contest and Hawaii Island Festival, and a kumu for the kupuna program at Waimea Elementary.

Friends may call at 9 a.m. Aug. 9 at the Kahilu Town Hall in Waimea for an 11 a.m. service. Luncheon and fellowship follow. Family requests casual attire be worn. Flowers are welcome.

She is survived by husband, Sebastian Kalili of Waimea; sons, Puna Garmon, Pahukula Kalili and Kanaele Kalili, all of Waimea; mother, Pearl Garmon of Waimea; brothers, Bubba (Theone) Garmon and Jason Garmon, both of Waimea; sisters, Shirlene Garmon and Nalani Garmon, both of Hilo, Leiola (Tony) Garmon-Mitchell of Waimea; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Sachiko Mitsuyoshi

Sachiko Mitsuyoshi, 88, of Hilo died July 6, 2014, at her residence. Born April 24, 1926, in Hilo, she was employed as a clerk for the former Crown Life Insurance Co. and was a member of the Hauoli Community Association and Honpa Hongwanji Hilo Betsuin Kyodan.

Private services were held. Family requests no flowers or monetary gifts.

She is survived by sisters, Amy Ogawa of San Francisco, Helen (Joe Y.) Tanaka of Hilo; brother, Hisao (Misako) Yamamoto of Gardena, Calif.; one aunt; numerous nephews, nieces and cousins.

Robert Chapman

Robert “Captain Bob” Grafton Chapman, of Holualoa died July 2, 2014, at his residence. Born Dec. 10, 1923, in Bonita, Calif., he was a boat captain, owner and operator of Captain Bob’s Glass Bottom Boat Tours and a World War II Army Air Corps veteran.

A private service was held.

He is survived by wife, Elaine Chapman of Holualoa; sons, Gifford (Sheila) Matsuoka of Kailua-Kona, Peter (Aulike) Matsuoka and Henry Chapman, both of Holualoa; daughters, Malia (Napua) Springer of Kailua-Kona, Kanani (Roy) Wall of Honalo, 14 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

Hiroshi Saito

Hiroshi Saito, 82, of Hilo and formerly of Honolulu died July 19, 2014, at Life Care Center of Hilo. Born in Hilo, he was a retired administrator for the Honolulu Department of Parks and Recreation.

He is survived by wife, Sidoyna Saito of Hilo; sons, Brian Saito and Brad Saito, both of Honolulu; three grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

Paul O’Brien

Paul O’Brien died Aug. 9, 2014. He was born Dec. 27, 1929.

Ronald Noa

Ronald Noa, 66, of Waimea died July 15, 2014, at North Hawaii Community Hospital. Born July 25, 1947, in Honolulu, he retired as chef at the Mauna Kea Beach and the Hilton Waikoloa hotels and was a wrestling coach and volunteer football coach at Honokaa High School and a Navy veteran.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. Aug. 9 at Kuhio Hale, Hawaiian Homes Hall in Waimea for a celebration of life. Family requests casual attire be worn. Flowers are welcome.

He is survived by son, Kaulana (Hana) Noa of Kahului, Maui; daughters, Elizabeth (Anthony) Carvalho of Ewa Beach, Oahu, Veronica (Marcus) Atkins of Beaverton, Ore., Deborah (Andy) Lange of Waimea; brother, Henry (Keolani) Noa of Kuliouou, Oahu; sisters, Suzanne (Eddie) Labenia of Kailua, Oahu, Joanne (Wade) Jones of Makiki, Oahu, Rhoda Martin of Waimanalo, Oahu; 12 grandchildren; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Teruo Kitamura

Teruo Kitamura, 81, of Hilo died July 20, 2014, at home. Born Nov. 19, 1932, in Hilo, he was a retired insurance salesman and owner of TMK Nursery.

Cisto Hondonero

Cisto Hondonero, 86, of Waimea died June 15, 2014, at The Queen’s Medical Center in Honolulu. Born April 6, 1928, in Ka‘u, he was a World War II veteran and retired from Ka‘u Agribusiness.

Cheryl Beth Beshore, 69, of Kealakekua died July 17, 2014. Born Sept. 3, 1944, in Wailuku, Maui, she was a homemaker and member of the Catholic Church.

She is survived by husband, Gerold Beshore of Costa Rica; sons, Brady Beshore of San Diego, Joey Beshore of Costa Rica, Aron Beshore of Kealakekua; daughters, Naomi Sanders of Kealakekua, Anna Beshore of Hilo; sister, Chaudrau Weekly of Sacramento, Calif.; seven grandchildren.
