Korean War Veterans meets Saturday

The Korean War Veterans Association of West Hawaii Chapter 279 meets at 10 a.m. Saturday at the VFW meeting hall, 74-5543 Kaiwi St., Suite 185A, behind Kona Locksmith in Kailua-Kona.

Membership is open to any person who has seen honorable service in any of the U.S. armed forces, if said service was in Korea including territorial waters and airspace from Sept. 3, 1945 to the present, or said service was outside of Korea from June 25, 1950 to Jan. 31, 1955. Associate members are also welcome.

Mauna Kea Quilters meets Saturday

Mauna Kea Quilters meets from 9:30 a.m. to noon Saturday in the meeting room of the Thelma Parker Memorial Library. There will be a business meeting, show-and-tell, and sharing of new ideas and techniques. The group meets on the second Saturday of each month.

Moo Olelo at Kamakahonu is Saturday

Na Wai Iwi Ola Foundation presents Moo Olelo at Kamakahonu, a series of talk story presentations featuring music, chant and dance, from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday at King Kamehameha’s Kona Beach Hotel’s formal gardens. Kumu Keala Ching will share a chant from his new book “Lighting the Path.” Recording artists Kaleo Perry, Alii Keainaaina and Boy Kamaka will perform selections from their new music releases. A Hawaiian music jam session follows.

Admission is free. Beach chairs and mats are welcome.
