HONOLULU — Honolulu police are investigating the department’s second officer-involved shooting in a week.

Police spokeswoman Teresa Bell says an auto theft suspect tried to run over officers early Wednesday in Pearl City.

No information was immediately available about the man who died.

Last week, police shot and killed a man who almost hit an officer with his car in Waikiki. Police said the driver also had an open container of liquor in the car.

Bell says the investigation into last week’s shooting is still ongoing but that the officer involved has returned to normal duty.
