West Hawaii beach parks, harbors open

The Hawaii County Civil Defense reports that beach parks in West Hawaii are open Saturday.

Open beaches include Kahaluu, Laaloa, Kohanaiki, Hapuna State Recreation Area and Spencer Beach Park, according to Civil Defense.

All East Hawaii beach parks located between Honolii and Punaluu remain closed, Civil Defense says.

The state Department of Land and Natural Resources said all Big Island state parks, which includes Kekaha Kai State Park in Kona, are open with the exception of Lava Tree State Monument and MacKenzie State Recreation Area.

The department’s divisions of Fish and Wildlife and State Parks continue to suspend issuance of camping permits for state forest and park campgrounds.

Division of Boating and Ocean Recreation small boat harbors remain open.
