An unattended candle caused a fire in a Puna home early Tuesday morning, according to the Hawaii Fire Department.

Seven units responded to the 3:06 a.m. alarm on Nanawale Boulevard, according to the department. The first unit arrived 10 minutes later to find the three-bedroom, single-story structure engulfed in flames. Flames were emanating from the living area and patio, as well.

The occupant escaped unharmed. There was no estimate of damages.
