Editor’s note: This log of property crimes reported in the Kona District is a regular feature of West Hawaii Today and is compiled using Hawaii Police Department records. The department considers North and South Kona one district.

Burglary

Aug. 2, a depth finder and arrows, valued at $2,100, were reportedly taken from a tool shed at a residence on the 6000 block of Mamalahoa Highway.

Aug. 2, a hotel room on the 5000 block of Alii Drive was reportedly broken into and miscellaneous contents, valued at $2,712.98, were removed.

Stolen vehicles

Aug. 2, a green 2001 Toyota Tundra was reportedly stolen overnight from the parking stalls in the Cal-Cam Centre building on the 5000 block of Kauhola Street in Kohanaiki Industrial Area.

Aug. 2, a mo-ped was reportedly stolen at 12:45 p.m. from the public parking area on the 5000 block of Hanama Place.

Aug. 2, a vehicle was reportedly removed without permission from the 5000 block of Alii Drive.

Aug. 2, a Toyota pickup truck, bearing the license plate ZAX078, was reportedly stolen on the 5000 block of Alii Drive. The vehicle was last seen at 10:30 p.m. that day.

Aug. 4, Hertz reported a silver Ford Fusion, being the license plate RVA931, was stolen in the area of Palani Road and Mamalahoa Highway. The rental vehicle was later recovered.

Aug. 5, a vehicle, bearing the license plate NTN167, was reportedly stolen from a garage on the 5000 block of Alii Drive.

Aug. 7, a 2009 Honda Ruckus mo-ped with a yellow gecko sticker on left side and a yellow Hawaiian Islands sticker on the right side was reportedly stolen on the 5000 block of Walua Road. The mo-ped bears the license plate 916HNS.

Aug. 8, a 2007 blue and white Honda Metropolitan mo-ped was reportedly stolen from the area fronting Jackie Rey’s Ohana Grill on Kuakini Highway.

Unauthorized entry into motor vehicles

Aug. 1, a vehicle on the 7000 block of Kaleopapa was reportedly broken into through the open driver’s side window and door area and a Samsung Galaxy S4 cellphone stolen.

Aug. 2, a vehicle, bearing the license plate HMG517, was reportedly broken into on the 6000 block of Walua Road. The suspect entered the vehicle from the passenger side door and attempted to start the vehicle using a screwdriver. The estimated damage was $700.

Aug. 2, a man was reportedly assaulted while in his vehicle on the 200 block of Lako Street. The victim suffered pain to his arm and leg.

Aug. 5, a vehicle on the 5000 block of Alii Drive was broken into and a silver cellphone, valued at $299, was stolen from the console area.
