Medical Marijuana meeting slated

The Drug Policy Forum of Hawaii and American Civil Liberties Union of Hawaii will hold a free, public meeting on medical marijuana policy in Kona.

The free-form conversation among patients, caregivers, doctors and advocates will be conducted by staff of the Drug Policy Forum of Hawaii from 2 to 4 p.m. Aug. 29 at Royal Kona Resort in the Resolution Room.

Volunteers sought

Project Hawaii Inc., is seeking volunteers for its Texas Hold’em fundraiser.

The event will be held Sept. 27 at Waikoloa Association Community Center. The organization is seeking local celebrities such as teachers, law officers or politicians.

Project Hawaii is a nonprofit organization run solely by volunteers that provides year-round services to homeless children.

Tropical Fruit Growers meet Monday

The next meeting of the West Hawaii chapter of Hawaii Tropical Fruit Growers will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the University of Hawaii Experiment Station in Kainaliu across from Aloha Theatre. Nonmembers are welcome.

The group will discuss new grant projects and the Master Food Preserver program. All attending are encouraged to bring fruit for sampling.
