Kupuna hula festival planned in Keauhou
The 32nd annual Hawaii Kupuna Hula Festival will be held at 5 p.m. Sept. 10 and 11 at the Sheraton Kona Resort and Spa at Keauhou Bay Convention Center. A craft fair will be held at 8 a.m.

Temporary traffic restrictions extended at park
The Hawaii County Department of Parks and Recreation has implemented temporary traffic safety measures at Old Kona Airport Park that will be extended through Sept. 14, to accommodate special events to be held at the park.
Traffic entering the park is being diverted to the beach access road at the north end of Kuakini Highway. This is being done to provide for the safety of park users while the E.K. Fernandez Big Island Fair and then the Color Run event.
The temporary speed limit is 5 mph.
Kailua Kona Seniors plan outing
Kailua Kona Seniors will meet at Hale Halawai at 9 a.m. on Sept. 10.
Members will car pool to the Sheraton Kona Resort &Spa at Keauhou Bay to attend the arts and crafts sale held in connection with the Kupuna Hula Festival. Members are asked to remember $3 for the car pool driver. There is no meeting this week at Hale Halawai.

National meeting to address coral reefs held on Maui
The Hawaii Department of Land and Natural Resources will host attendees of the 32nd United States Coral Reef Task Force meeting Monday through Sept. 12 in Kaanapali, Maui.
Participants will discuss key national issues, propose new actions, and present the latest progress in the effort to protect, restore, and sustainably use coral reef ecosystems.
This action-oriented meeting will include workshops, issue-specific meetings, site visits, and opportunities for the public to engage with participants and learn more about their efforts. The main event of the week is a formal business meeting on Sept. 11 at The Westin Maui, where representatives from each participating agency, state, and territory will present accomplishments, address regional priorities, and outline next steps in coral conservation strategies.
