Foodland matching donations to charities this month
Foodland will match donations it receives for specific charities such as Hawaii Wildlife Fund through Sept. 31.
The company will match up to $300,000 total statewide. Last year, its Give Aloha program raised more than $2 million for more than 650 island nonprofit organizations.
Marine debris talk planned in Hilo
Hawaii Wildlife Fund, Knowledge in Motion and Recycle Hawaii invite the public a talk story event about marine debris from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Mokupapapa Discovery Center for Hawaii’s Remote Coral Reefs, 76 Kamehameha Ave. in Hilo.
A collaborative project that takes marine debris from the shoreline to the classroom will be discussed. Attenees will also learn how to get involved with marine debris removal, recycling and education efforts. Light refreshments will be served.

Hawaii County Business Outlook Forum planned
First Hawaiian Bank’s 40th annual Hawaii County Business Outlook Forum is Sept. 25, at the Waikoloa Beach Marriott Resort’s Naupaka Ballroom.
Registrations begins at 11 a.m. and lunch is at 11:30 a.m. Jack Suyderhoud, professor of business economics for the Shidler College of Business at University of Hawaii at Manoa, will present “Big Island Economic Forecast for 2015.” Ken Miller, the chief investment strategist and director of investment services at First Hawaiian Bank, will present “U.S. and Global Economic Forecast & Market Analysis.”

Afterschool yarn lei making class planned
The Department of Parks and Recreation will be having an afterschool yarn lei making craft for youth ages 8 through 14 years old.
The activity will be held from 3:30 to 5 p.m. Sept. 24 in the multipurpose room at Kekuaokalani Gym in Kailua-Kona.
